Taking glass lamp shade back to uk

Hi all,
Can somebody tell me if we can take a large glass lamp shade back to the uk as handluggage? We have put it in a beach bag because it will not fit into the normal cabin bag.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

Will it fit your airlines cabin bag guidelines ? If so yes.

Better yet, wear it as a hat on the plane and that way you get your hand luggage allowance

Yep, we have done it - no probs either leaving Antalya or arriving Stansted, just carried it on and sat it on my lap (didn't feel safe putting it in the overhead locker)

Electrical adaptors have been known to replicate in the darkness of a closed draw , they slither and slide until they intertwine like a gordion knot.

Re: Taking glass lamp shade back to uk

Graham, our daughter's boyfriend , brought our halogen oven over in a shoulder bag , it just fitted in the cabin bag sizer at the airport and was (apart from the weight) no problem
We brought an ornate bedroom make up mirror , in it's polystyrene packaging .

The night before we flew , I wrapped it up in cling film , then cling filmed it to my rectangular guitar case and put notices on of "fragile-glass" in both English and Turkish . I had to have it x rayed at Manchester, where it was put on the fragile carousel and at Bodrum as we were going past the security guards , one asked what the big package was , so I told him, my guitar and a big mirror which was a birthday present from our daughter , he smiled and waved us on

Re: Taking glass lamp shade back to uk

I think it might depend who is on security duty at the time. Thinking you could, if you were a baddy break the glass & create havoc with it on the flight. But, as people have already said, they have experienced no problems. Good luck !

I was waiting for the " security are looking into it " , well done for resisting it.
