Support for the people of Turkey

As some of the members of this forum will know, I have been personally subjected to some nightmarish corruption during the nine years since I purchased a property in Yalikavak. My nightmare continues.

However, I feel at this time, when the people of Turkey are being subjected to barbaric attacks on a major scale from feeble minded blood lust filled terrorists, when their tourist industry is being hit hard from many directions (I include the Russian factor in this), that the people of Turkey need all the support they can get. I am going to make a point of holidaying in Turkey this year, it is the least I can do for the honest and welcoming citizens of Turkey, and I sincerely hope others will follow suit or find some other way of supporting the people of Turkey as loudly and as strongly as they can.

My father lost his battle with cancer a few days ago. Let me share one of the many wise thoughts he left me with: "tribalism is the greatest human weakness". Let's fight it.

Re: Support for the people of Turkey

To be honest Chris if I had been in your position I may have found it hard to empathize or vocalise support for anyone , whilst receiving disgraceful and continuing bad treatment over your property . ( I hope for your success in that )

It says more of your strength of character as a person , that you still can find it in your heart for others, compiled with your recent pain of , the sad loss of your father ( you have my sincere condolences) you certainly have a big heart and you should be proud , that you are certainly your father's son/daughter in your defiance of the scum Terrorists, and compassion for your fellow man . Something sadly lacking in this cruel divisive world.

And who did these Terrorists kill , a student on the way to meet his mum ,an airport worker due to be married in a few days ,a young steward who updated her facebook a few days before with the sentiment 'not war, I insist, on love' and many more ordinary innocents whose lives are now cut and will be unfulfilled. All in an attempt to Terrorize us all, instill fear and to get us to change our daily life and sow division . The best way is to live as normal a life as possible and support your fellow man then the strong win and they lose .

Surely you took 'the political climate' into consideration when you decided to invest in an off-plan apartment in West Istanbul earlier this year!

Re: Support for the people of Turkey

Don't think like that. Just do what you have to do and go where you want within reason of course. Don't let terrorists get into your mind. Of course in many capital or busy cities like Istanbul or here in London we get used to being careful and mindful just because there are a lot of nasties out there. But they or terrorists will not stop me leading my life and they will not get to me. I stand stedfast on this . I will not give them the pleasure of being able to put fear into me. From reading many posts on here over the years I can see that many will not be moved and alter their lives because of worries of being blown up. There's more of us than there is terrorists thank goodness.

lol. I don't think west Istanbul is of much interest to terrorists. just a combination of wasteland and tower blocks.
