Lightbulb Izmir to Become a Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts Destination from 2006

Hotel news resource

Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has signed a management contract with Viltur Insaat Ve Turizm A.S. for the takeover of a business hotel in Izmir.

The 5-star hotel is to open officially in mid-2006 following extensive renovations. It will be the second hotel to be run by the Swiss international hotel chain in Turkey after the Mövenpick Hotel Istanbul, which has been under Mövenpick's successful management since 2003.

The Mövenpick Hotel Izmir is ideally located in the town centre and close to the Mediterranean, and is a mere 30 minute drive from Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport.

184 modern rooms and suites and a Presidential Suite offer the very highest comfort, some with fascinating views of the square in front of the Hotel and the Mediterranean. Trademark Mövenpick cuisine and delicacies will be served in the main restaurant, with its wide variety of buffets, and in the speciality restaurant. The Lobby Bar is the ideal place to enjoy a drink after work or an aperitif before dinner; naturally it also serves Mövenpick ice cream.

Amenities for business travellers include a business centre and six meeting rooms with state-of-the-art audiovisual technology. For relaxation there is an indoor pool and a spa and fitness centre complete with sauna, massage and whirlpool.

'Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts are renowned for their culinary expertise, high standards of product and service quality combined with a certain Swiss touch, and staff trained to the highest level,' notes Nail Oezkardes, President of Viltur Insaat Ve Turizm A.S. 'So we're convinced we've found the right partner.'

'One of our expansion objectives is to gain a foothold in other Turkish destinations, and we're delighted that as of mid-2006 we'll be able to offer our guests genuine Swiss hospitality in Izmir, too,' says Stefan Flury, Senior Vice President Europe Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts. 'The great success of the Mövenpick Hotel Istanbul, which has just been awarded 'Best City Hotel in Turkey' by SKAL International Turkey, makes us extremely confident about the Mövenpick Hotel Izmir.'

Canim, this is good news, especially if the hotel they are buying is the old Efes hotel. the article didnt say, but it would be the only one that is right off the square and views of the sea.
Spent many summers at the efes......I hope it is the one in question.
