Hi Sylvia

Not sure if there is a web site for this arport but I was there 2 weeks ago or so. It's all fairly straight forward, if there is anything particular you need that maybe I can help with then please ask.

I rented a car from there, and travelled down to Altinkum.

hi - so many questions !!!!

i flew from heathrow and it was about 3 hrs 15 m to Istanbul - about 1 hr from there to Izmir

Its about a 1hr 40 min drive to Altinkum

Altinkum is much quieter off season lots of building work both to the appartment areas and the main town - still a busy place !!

I ended up buying in Akbuk purely for the price - a duplex villa (semi) was the same price as a smallish appt in Altinkum

I love the place having been there 2 times last season. The weather is really cold at night so you need heating of some description in your home.

But it was Ok dring the day - about 16 o C daytime , cloudy but at that time i was too busy with all the legals to worry about the weather.

All the english there this time were on viewing buying trips , so it looks like the prices will just keep escalating as demand is still high.

Proper car hire arranged the car from Izmir, so the price was competitive

Sandra there are 2 flights from Istanbul to Bodrum every day, we always fly that way with no problems it takes about 1 hour 10 mins.

Eddy how much is, say a 3 bed villa in Akbuk (average)?

We always use Proper car they are so reliable.

Gail,

I think akbuk is in a bit of a transition, there are the developments that have been on going for years that are only now being complete, ozcelik (where mushtaq and myself have a villa), and the sites that eddy and juco have bought on, these are designed, built with turkish people in mind, quite small with communal facilities. These range from around £28k - £45,£50k

Then you have the new wave of places that are being built specifically with the Brits in mind they tend to have more private facilities these range from about £70-£110k there are a half a dozen of these on the go with the aim of being complete by the end of the year some of which have already sold out.

It is true that at the moment you can still bag yourself a bargain, Surely there arent that many 3 bed villas with beautiful views, 1000m from the sea and town that can still be had for £30k with the advantage of being 35minutes away from Bodrum airport and 15minutes away from Altinkum.

Mushtaq has details of all the developments most of which are on www.CrescentHomes.co.uk

All the best

Marc

Gail - Yes proper car hire are wonderful aren't they ?? Difficult to put a price on villas in Akbuk at the moment..... I was lucky to get what I consider to be a really good deal on my 2 bed duplex villa - Crescent homes are advertising the same at £23,500 The larger villas are more expensive but still amazing value.... but prices seems to be rising by the day

Sandra - Yes I could have flown to Bodrum - the prices are similar but there are fewer flights each day. I was only there for a few days so the flight times were important...

Izmir is further away but slightly better road, only just over 90 mins journey - the new road is a toll motorway ( in turkey !!!!! ) but sooooo cheap 1.5 Ytl !!!!!!

Thanks for all the info, I think Altinkum and Akbuk are still quite a bit cheaper than the Bodrum area. Friends of ours have just bought a small 2 bed apartment in Gumusluk and I think they paid £21,000.
