eating in Izmir area
Just wondering if any of you old hands (hey, less of the old) might be able to recommend good places to eat on the coastal strip between Sigacik and Ozdere, or inland from there. At the moment we blunder about in the car and usually end up at that nice restaurant in Sigacik by the harbour, whose name I forget. We found plenty of cheap and cheerful cafes on our last visit but it would be lovely to have one or two places to get a bit dressed up for: the children love to be taken out to nice restaurants sometimes, and so do we.
Or is it not like that in this area of Turkey, or in Turkey generally? Don't know, still finding our feet. We've come direct from a holiday hovel in France, where we had a choice of cafe/bistro/smart restaurant - didn't often pick the smart restaurant but it was fun to sometimes (first night of hols, last night of hols, you know the kind of thing).... but perhaps in the country areas of Turkey everybody eats at the cafe?

You have such confidence in me! I do know quite abit about Izmir but not everything yet! Anzie, I really cannot recommend any restaurants in that area as we have only ever just stopped at small restaurants and cafes in that area but if it do decide to come to Izmir I can recommend a couple of very nice restaurants downtown.

Azra, thanks; we are intending to go into Izmir quite often - cities seem glamorous when you live on a tiny island with one shop ! - so it would be great to get your recommendations for city restaurants downtown; I'll make a note of them in the guidebook. I have a pretty good city map. Thanks!
