Leaving Izmir Airport
For the benefit of anyone driving from Izmir airport for the first time, south to Altinkum or the Bodrum area.When you leave the airport area you drive onto a dual carriageway,which will take into Izmir,you need to do a Uturn at the first set of lights or break in the carriageway,to head the opposite way,which will take you onto the motor way.I don't know if the resorts are sign posted from there,as I got a bit lost,but head for Aydin and Soke,from Soke the resorts are sign posted,wish I knew that a few weeks ago.  When returning the Airport is well sign posted from the motorway. |

Thanks for that info Parrott-- going to Izmir on 15th Nov for our flight ---very expensive flight -Ł 42 !!!! |

Can you tell me how long it takes to get from Izmir to Bodrum and is there a decent bus service I can use, as I am travelling out there in Feb and the best flight prices are to Izmir.

It takes me 3 hours and I think you have to get a taxi to the bus station then a bus down. You would need to find out what time the buses leave though.
