Samira hotel and apartments in Kalkan
I have found the website for Samira hotel and apartments in Kalkan but can anybody tell me if there is a website for Samira deluxe or sometimes called the Samira II
I have booked with A1 travel to got to the Samira deluxe on the 6th of August for two weeks. For the past 5 years we have gone to Ovacik in small family run hotel but wanted a change and opted for Kalkan.
I have read all the reviews and it sound superb but would like to chat to anybody who has been to the Samira deluxe or Kalkan.

Re: Samira hotel and apartments in Kalkan
Hi ICF,
don't think you will be disappointed with the Samira.
We have a place in Kalkan and have never stayed at the Samira but over the years have met lots of people who have, and I've never heard a bad report.
If you visit trip advisor they have a lot of feedback re Klakan, and the Samira.
One thin I would say though, the Samira have a new restaurant called The Bosphorous, been open the last two years. I don't know if it's rented out to somebody but that wouldn't be my first cjoice for a meal. It's okya, but in Kalkan you should never settle for okay as there's so much choice, and a very high standard of food in the town in general.
Hope you enjoy your holiday, I know you will love Kalkan, but I would say that would't I !
Regards
Linda

Hi LindaA
Being a resident you should know if there any bigger supermarkets (Gima or Migros) near by?
I like to buy my 14 days supply of beer in one go

Migas is in Kas, it's good to combine it with a day there. The supermarkets in Kas are bigger, cheaper and have a better choice but if you are staying in a hotel it's probably just as well to get your beer locally. I understand that the supermarket at the side of the Samira is going to be a "Tesco". Has anyone heard anything about this? You will enjoy the Samira, it is very well placed for Kalkan town centre. It has a lovely pool and pool bar and the staff are very friendly. The Turkish night there is one of the better ones.

Re: Samira hotel and apartments in Kalkan
Samira Deluxe is up the hill past the petrol station I think, so not as handy as the Samira Hotel and Apartments but a courtesy bus runs from a stance right next to the Samira Apts. The Samira and the Samira Deluxe are both owned by brothers, however I understand that they don't speak to each other and competition between them is intense. I have stayed at the Samira twice and the apartments were refurbished about a year ago. Service was first class. My daughter appears on their website - she's the little girl with the blonde hair and the hat -she was about 3 at the time.

I've also heard very good reports from people staying at the Samira Deluxe so you can't go wrong. You can also book direct with the Samira and save a fortune on the tour operators prices.
As Joan H says no major supermarkets in Kalkan. No sign of the Sevil supermarket changing to a Tesco yet - We were out over the New Year period.

From Kalkan to Kas it is only about a 20 minute drive. but sorry don't know the taxi costs. But there should be connecting public buses between the 2 areas 1. Antalya tur of possible 2. Cicek Tur.

Hi, e used to live in Kas, and you will find an excellent selections of shops in kas, and as said before prices are generally cheaper. There are also some excellent good price resturants in kas, and woukd especially recommend EVY's, run buy a crazy french lady called Evy, food is excellent, and the returant is full of old turkish charm. You can get to kas bylocal dolmus, and it take about 3 mins and rund very regularly and costs only a few lira.

Re: Samira hotel and apartments in Kalkan
Hi,
Migros is situated in Kas by close to the bus station, you could always use the Dolmus, much cheaper than a taxi. There is also in Kalkan the Yali supermarket, very good, and expanding as we speak, they will be including a butchers, green grocers etc by April this year (we were out at the end of January so info is up to date), he also does a free delivery service. It located up the hill on the LHS towards the market.
Samira is very good, there is family conflict but that does not or should not be a problem with any of their clients, just enjoy Kalkan, we do, we have been going since early 1990's so can see lots of changes not all for the better, and it did'nt stop us having a house built there. DRBD

Re: Samira hotel and apartments in Kalkan
Samira was the first hotel we stayed at in Kalkan, and we went back the following year (then we bought our own apartment!)
We still pop in and see them there whenever we are inn Kalkan because the bar is always very friendly and the staff are great. Thoroughly recommended! I'd agree with the comments about the restauranat though - it's OK but certainly not the best that Kalkan has to offer!
