Hi I'm hoping someone here will be able to help...

We've potentially got some guests for our villa in Kalkan who also want to get married whilst they are here. This is very flattering for us that they obviously like the villa but what are the rules & can they in fact arrange a marriage with ease in Turkey? Kalkan is only small and the nearest lawyers are in Kas - could they arrange a lawyer to visit kalkan to perform the formalities, or do they need to travel to Fethiye to the Consulate?

Any advise or stories of how this can work successfully welcome...

A couple stayed at the Korsan Apartments a couple of years ago and got married whilst there. I am sure if you contact Claire or Uluc (Korsan Marina, Fish Terrace or Korsan Kebap) they would be able to advise. Also, Ercan at the Atlantis could advise, his english is very good and is married to an english girl. One of their friends got married last September whilst there.

I would advise you speak to perhaps Karyn at Xpress Homes on the Kalamar Road, she is English and has been in Kalkan for some time, your couple would have to make arrangements in Turkey in the first place then give Notice of No Impediment at their local Register Office and allow 21 days before collecting it to take to the authorities in Turkey. Before doing this they MUST have the name and address of where they are to be married. Its no too complicated a process but must have all the details. DRBD
