Kalkan Break In's
There has been another spate of break In's in Kalkan. We were broken into today so I am posting this so that others can be aware of what is going on. Please make sure you secure your property as well as you possibly can to prevent this happening to you. There were 3 or 4 break in's during the night in the same area. Beware!! Sally New.

Re: Kalkan Break In's
Hi Sally,
thanks for the update, our next door neighbours in Kalkan also got broken into a couple of weeks ago,
They are a large Turkish family who live in their villa all year round. The intruder got in in the early hours of the morning while they were in bed !!
He must have got a shock when the males of the house were woken and chased him down the road. They caught him and took him to the gendarme, he was a winter building worker I am told.
The stupid thief obviously didn't do his homework very well, will be interested to find out how he is treated for the crime

Re: Kalkan Break In's
Hi Jon,
our place is almost next door to the Kalkan Regency, neighbours right next door, lots of local people in that area, so god knows how the theives thought they's get away with it,
as far the weather, sorry I'm at home in the N West at the mo, lovely and sunny with blue skies though, maybe better than Kalkan !

Re: Kalkan Break In's
Hi Our villa that was broken into is on the hill behind the garage. There are lots of villas in the area and aparently the break in's were all in the same road. We were not there at the time but have an excellent management agent (Sedat and Elena from Lycian Coast homes) so they sorted out the problem and called the police imediately. Luckily they live close so keep a very close eye on the property. But they got in, in the night and must have been very quiet as they took out the window instead of breaking it. Today we are having bolts put on all the windows and doors, but it is such a shame as it leaves a very bad taste in the mouth to think someone has been through all your belongings. When we bought the villa 2 years ago there did not seem to be any crime in Kalkan and we thought we were safe, but we thought wrong. Hope this has been some help to others. Sally New.

Re: Kalkan Break In's
Its such a shame this is happening in Kalkan - I wonder if anything can be done to stop it or if it is just a result of the amount of homes been built in the area.

Re: Kalkan Break In's
So sorry to hear about your break in, I am sure if someone could offer a good alarm system at a reasonable price they would make a fortune.

Re: Kalkan Break In's
So sorry this happened to you. It was the same last year round about this time, and not just in Kalkan. It always seems to happen with the end of the winter building season and the imminent return of casual workers back to their towns and villages. The police do seem to catch most of them.
