Any progress with the new road?

Hi, has anyone in Kalkan heard how the new road is progressing (the one being built over the hill heading towards Kas) has any work been going on over the winter? Any idea of a completion date?

Just wondering.........

Hi we were out in January and there was very little if any work being done on the road, have been told by locals that it could take 2-3 years "Turkey Time" but we know it was far from finished. We are out next week so will see for ourselves. DRBD

Re: Any progress with the new road?

Hi we were in Kalkan until mid March & the only sign of anything happening was near the petrol station. They had moved some cables & poles, getting ready for the roundabout. there was work going on with the Yeshilkoy bypass. They were blasting at one point for a couple of days. But I cant see anything being started on the Kas section until this season is out of the way.

Re: Any progress with the new road?

Just come back from Kalkan - the road is progressing - but the timetable for completion is 2008. Now that the new road is there, there does seem to be a lot of building works starting - hotels, villas and complexes - Kalkan is going to get a lot bigger in the next few years!

Re: Any progress with the new road?

The road seems to be progressing quite nicely (it's got about half-way to Kalamar), however, I've been told that unlike villa construction, the road-building will probably continue throughout the summer as it's a central government project not a local one. The operation is quite a noisy one (involving occasional blasting with dynamite and constant digging from 7.30 / 08.00 in the morning until early evening) - this is not going to be particularly pleasant for those staying in villas close by. Does anyone have any further information on whether or not this work is definitely going to continue through the summer? Apparently, the Belediye has no control over this particular project at all.
