I'm a 19 year old English girl and have travelled to Kalkan twice now. I've been with my family and we absolutely loved Kalkan and all the friendly local people. I am looking for people who are recruiting for summer jobs whether this being bar, restaurant, reception staff or any other jobs in the beautiful town.

My family and I have just bought a house in Kalkan in the area of Kiziltas. We will be staying a long period of time over the summer and I would love to work out there any time between any months from May-October. I'm very familiar with the area and would be happy to work day times or night. Preferably something ideal and fun for my age. I think the experience of working abroad would be great, plus I could learn the turkish language far quicker than just a two week holiday. I have friends in Kalkan, so for me this is the perfect work destination.

I am currently working in retail here in England in a clothing store as a sales advisor full time. I have a 2 year qualification in Travel and Tourism at Distinction Level and additional qualifications in functional key skills and GCSE's. I will attach my CV if you choose to take this discussion further on my email address [email protected]

I would appreciate any information, news or recommendations about the work i desire. Thank you.

Welcome to the Forum Alex. This thread is over 5 years old and therefore I doubt you will get any reply from the original poster. However, please read all you can about foreigners working in Turkey. You need a work permit to work it any job in Turkey and these are liking rocking horse poo to get. A foreigner cannot work in a job that a Turk can do. As Saoirse has already said no work permit, no job. You can get deported for working without a work permit and banned from Turkey for 5 years. Why not have a look around the forum using the search facility (top right of the page). Good luck.

Re: Anyone looking for a job in Kalkan??

Any Turk bar owner that offers you a job and tells you that he will get the permit for you "problem Yok" is lying!

If he tells you that the chief of police is his a, uncle, b, best friend, c, brother he's lying!
If he tells you that you don't need one for whichever reason he can think of first, he's lying!

If you ignore the warnings and take a job, there is a really good chance that you won't get paid, as you could be strung along all season with the words"I will pay you soon, or at the end of the season". They are quite happy to do it to the young Turkish guys that have worked all season, they will do it to you to at the drop of a hat and there's nothing you will be able to do as you can't go to the police because you were working illegally.

When you get caught and you will get caught, it won't be very nice for either you or your family if they have to leave you behind in the UK when they come out on holiday, as you will be banned from Turkey for years, it won't be very nice for them when they have a huge fine to pay because you worked illegally.

Please listen to the people who have either lived in Turkey full time or been coming for months at a time for years.

Re: Anyone looking for a job in Kalkan??

Kalkan is a small place and there is every chance someone will report you. As previous posters have said, don't do it unless you have a work permit. The Brits you see working in Kalkan are often married to a Turk and have citizenship or have a permit as they are working for a tour company.

Re: Anyone looking for a job in Kalkan??

And an unpaid job is no excuse, work is work paid or not.
A couple of teachers got deported a couple of years back for helping out, it was voluntary unpaid work.
