Burglaries & CCTV

Hi All

We recently received the following from our Mgt Co:
----------------------
Due to latest increased burglary in Kalkan, the local Council and Jandarma has recently had a meeting and the outcome is to put cameras in and around Kalkan and also Jandarma will have more men out controling the areas.

The reason for my writing to you is to request GBP.100.-this will be required from all villa owners.REceipt from Jandarma will be issued to each individual who has paid.

This will be a one off payment
---------------------------

Anyone else heard something similar?

They can't ask you for money just like that. If the Jandarma are involved then it's down to them or even your council to foot the bill.
If it's official I'd think that you would pay your slice via your council tax, I reckon they are trying it on. I'd ignore it or even refuse to pay.

Hi all

I won't be paying a £ 100.00 so that somebody can watch me skinny dipping in my pool.

We have gone for low tech solution fittted iron work to windows and doors.

Please send your £100.00 donations to cover my cost's C/O Buster,Kalkan

Read the details here:

http://kalkander.org/cctv.htm

However, the organizers of this project have not well explained how this system is supposed to work, what areas will it cover and what other expenses are involved. The £ 100.00 as I understand it is a one-time contribution to start-up costs, but thereafter will follow installation costs of individual cameras someone said. This is heresay, the organizers have not clearly defined the project or the costs, therefore we will not contribute until they do.

Iron bars can be cut but the thieves are looking for easy entry, fast exit routes so don't carry along acetylene torches or heavy cutting tools to cut iron!
