kalamar hotel

Hi there am new to this but thought I would give it a whirl! I am staying in Kalkan for week from 11th July at the Kalamar Hotel. As I travelling to Turkey for the first time on my own (have been to Turkey before but with friends and family previously) was just a bit concerned that I may find it a bit lonely? So if anyone has any ideas of places I could eat or bars etc? where I can go without feeling like Billy no mates. Please get in touch. Also appreciate any recommendations for restaurants not too expensive.

Thanks
Steph

Re: kalamar hotel

Hi Steph

Try the moonlight bar at the top of the town. Always busy and friendly.

If you eat in the centre of Kalkan most of the restaurants are fairly expensive by Turkish standards but not by English. My favorites are Ibo and Coast.

Just as you walk down into Kalkan near to the PTT there are some more reasonable restaurants serving good authentic and reasonably priced Turkish food.

Regards

Re: kalamar hotel

Hi Steph,
There is a little cafe/bar in Kalamar that is very reasonable priced and will be a good place for you to go for snacks and drinks and to meet fellow travellers. The owners are very friendly and will put you at ease. It is called Cafe Vita.
The Atlantis Restaurant which is at the start of the Kalkan end of the Kalamar Road is also worth trying. They have a bar downstairs and a restaurant on the roof with excellent views and a reasonable priced menu. Ozcan and Ercan speak excellent english and will also make you feel welcome and not a "Billy no-mates". To be honest,, you will be made to feel welcome anywhere in Kalkan and quickly make friends. There is a very good web-site that just deals with people visiting Kalkan at www.enjoykalkan.com they have a section where you can say when you are in Kalkan and introduce yourself to others who are there at the same time. You could make some new friends to meet up with so you won't be totally alone!!!
