Re: Bars and Restaurants in Kalkan
Hello all Kalkanites,
purely for watering holes I can't believe nobody has mentioned Kleo Bar yet, right at the bottom of the front road and next to the beach.
Great music, comfy seats, and great views in the day of the boats coming and going, in the evening lovely view of the moon on the sea and the twinkling lights of Club Patara and Kisla Bay ........... mustn't forget the owner Durali, great sense of humour.
One of our best evenings there was when Kalkan had a power cut (one of the many little things you will get used to), at about 1:00 am. One of the waiters made sure all the candles were lit at the tables and another one took a seat with his acoustic guitar and sang for us.
Cat Stevens' song, Lady D'Arbanville, moonlight on the sea, and a gin and tonic, I could have died happy.
I look forward to reading all about your favourite places and will post more about ours, and the places we have visited around Kalkan.
Linda

Re: Bars and Restaurants in Kalkan
Should also mention the Utopia bar (next to the Moonlight) - Great bar and very friendly staff. The Marina Restaurant at at the bottom of the big hill, right next to the harbour, beside the Pirat Hotel and close to the Yacht Point bar serves some of the nicest food we have tasted and is very popular with the locals.
More soon.

Re: Bars and Restaurants in Kalkan
Our favourites are the Alternif Atlantis at the start of the Kalamar Road, Adams, the Albatros, The Korsan and Bergin's but then again we always manage to find a new "favourite" every time we go. There is just so many to choose from. I don't think we have had a bad meal yet.

Re: Bars and Restaurants in Kalkan
Our favourites are Coast and Paprika, but we also like Sofra and Aubergine, all for different reasons.
New this year is Breeze, on the main Kalamar Road roundabout, run by the guy who used to work in Kosk restaurant. Worth a try. And Baris at the Nur Hotel has just opened a new rooftop restaurant and bar called Barbaros, run by Bobby (an expat Brit). We were amongst their guinea pigs when we went over in April, just as they were opening, and it's really nice up there. Especially the air conditioned loo (private joke, sorry...)

Re: Bars and Restaurants in Kalkan
The Barbaros is now on our list of favourites. We had two excellent meals there. Bobbie has decorated the place with great care and it it looks nothing like the breakfast terrace that they used for the Nur. The food, prices and the ambience are spot on. Thanks for telling us about this Martin, and I let Baris know you had recommended it.(That should earn you some brownie points!!)

Thanks Joan. They have worked so hard on getting the place ready (we were there in the final week of preparation and they were manic) so it desrves to be a success for both of them. Thanks for earning us the brownie points :-)
