Kalkan for a holiday

Can I pick the brain's of the good people of this forum???
Thinking about going to Kalkan next year. Have had the last 2 holidays in Ovacik which we loved but as there looks like being me and the DH next year I thought about giving Kalkan a go!!!

So any hotel ideas???

Can we easily do days out???

Would we need a car?? (If we do its out, driving not for me out there and I drive all week for a living)!!

I have seen a nice looking hotel called Kalube. Does anyone know it?

Any info would be great. Only been back for 2 weeks and itchy to book for next year already!!!

Many thanks Di

Re: Kalkan for a holiday

The buses from Kalkan are pretty good and quite regular - do take a day trip to Kas which is a beautiful resort - and from there a day over to the Greek Island of Meis if you like - very pretty with lots of different coloured houses and a lovely harbour. The drive between Kalkan and Kas is spectacular.

Also go on a kayak for a day near there where you kayak over an old Roman city. A day worth remembering.

I went to the markets in both Kalkan and Kas and they were both worth visiting - although quite similar to one another. The restaurants in Kalkan are wonderful.

Have a great holiday.

Re: Kalkan for a holiday

I stayed in the Kalkan Regency many many years ago....Was superb. I have heard good reviews of Kalube. Check out 'Trip Advisor' you should be able to find what you need there! (Oh my nephew's partners aunt & uncle run 'Pascha', you may want to try that?) Sorry if that was classed as advertising.....
Kalkan is one of my favourite places in Turkey......

colcol will become famous soon enough
Re: Kalkan for a holiday

Both Kalkan and Kas are in my opinion just wonderful.
But if it's Kalkan in peak season, as it's a very steep
hilly resort and hotter than ovacik, bear this in mind.
There are many local Kalkan websites, look, ponder
and enjoy.

Re: Kalkan for a holiday

I haven't stayed at the Kalube but have visited. It was very nice but is quite a trek from there into Kalkan Town, up hill to the top of Kalamar bay then a long walk then down again if you go to Kalkan harbour. The business map on the Kalkan Turkish Local News site will show you where all the hotels are located.

I'm sure you will love Kalkan but location of your accomodation is important.
