Re: Kalkan or Kas

Difficult choice, both places and Dalyan being my favourites.
In October, should you choose Kalkan, the hills will be easy to manage, but Kas has a little more to offer and less hilly. You also have the advantage of popping over to the beautiful little Greek island of Meis for a few hours.
Which ever you choose, there is such a good dolmus service between them both, and a stunning coastal route, so i'm sure many of us who know them, it's well worth visiting which ever one you decide not to stay at.

Re: Kalkan or Kas

Whichever you decide...maybe a few days in each....be sure to go to Kekova for a day trip. Either by coach from Kalkan or perhaps by boat from Kaş. It is a magical place and should not be missed.

Re: Kalkan or Kas

Whilst Kalkan is very hilly a lot of the hotels are very central so you can walk everywhere and justify the extra snack on needing the energy from it to get up the hill back to where you are staying. Kas is more of working town and in many ways much more interesting to visit than Kalkan. The downside is that many of the hotels are out of the town proper.
From Kalkan you can catch a dolmus to Kas or hire a car and drive along the coast road easily. If you catch a dolmus and stay late you would need a taxi back, as I recall it is not too expensive to do this.
Hope you enjoy your holiday.

Re: Kalkan or Kas

Kas every time for me - it is so peaceful - and stunning scenery - and if you can - stay at the Hideaway Hotel which has amazing views from the rooftop terrace - as suggested above - do a day trıp to Meis - a Greek Island from there - and Kalkan is worth a day trıp too - but I would never stay there - much too hilly and not as much atmosphere as Kas to my mind -

No bets on my vote. Kalkan every time. Love Kas for a visit though.
