Re: Just Returned From Karia Student Residence
Mike,
I've rented properties for 30 years + to people of all types including students at one time. You put 6 in an apartment and you want your head testing son. No 'normal' monthly deposit will cover you for the wear and tear you can expect and certainly not at £250 pm..LOL and if your developer above wants to contradict that then I suggest he tells me chapter and verse what his experience actually is. You would be better advised to be renting at a lower amount to one long term tenant carefully vetted.Lower rent will be more than offset by lower ongoing maintence costs. Although ,you're in a rock and a hard place finding such a person if they are going to be living cheek to cheek with students. Frankly, what a mess. Commiserations ,personally I'd take a bath and offload ,getting your lumps out of the way early tends to beat living in hope IMO.

Re: Just Returned From Karia Student Residence
I very much doubt it if the UNIVERSITY IS PAYING FOR RENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i AM BEING TOLD THE RENT WILL ONLY BE £250 PER MONTH FOR UP TO 6 PEOPLE??I also doubt a teacher/Proffessor would want to be surrounded with 50/60 students on his time-off??

Re: Just Returned From Karia Student Residence
İ think that Turkish students in general are well behaved..there will be no booze filled nights for a start.
İ cant understand your reaction simply because they are Students.!
We pay 400 lira for our apartment in the centre of Alanya..so 250pounds on what you describe as a building site is fair value.

Re: Just Returned From Karia Student Residence
I understand your disappointment with the current situation, but didn't you know it was next to the university when you bought the place?
And if you don't like the idea of renting to students, then you shouldn't or is this part of your contract?

Re: Just Returned From Karia Student Residence
I was advised that the appartment could be rented to a teacher/professor for the winter months, however we had NO INTENTION OF RENTING BEFORE OUR LAST VISIT!!
The only reason to rent is to recover something from an investment that was to be A DREAM HOLIDAY/RETIREMENT HOME!!

Re: Just Returned From Karia Student Residence
Mike İ live in fevzipasha and most of the students are my friends... İ really dont know what you expected when you bought a property right next to a University. 50% of the houses in our area are summer homes and over the winter are rented to students. And İ can assure you youre home will be fine and as Shirley said Turkish students are nothing like British they arent the larger louts we get back home.
And if it is really as you say your dream retirement home you should of done a bit more research to find out what its like at different times of year.

Re: Just Returned From Karia Student Residence
On the way to Akbuk from Didim (if you follow the coastline) right across the road from the University.

Don't shout we're not deaf - just tell us why you bought by the University when it would be obvious to anyone that there would be students living in the apartments.
Did you intend to rent the apartment when you were not using it? With the amount of property to rent you would be very lucky indeed if you did manage to get anyone to rent it so at least having students renting you would be getting some income from the property.
