U.K. Driving license

Does anyone know anything about the new rules regarding uk driving license in turkey? Is there a way of not having to change to a Turkish license? Thankyou for any info.

The only way to not change, is go to a Greek island for the day, get your passport stamped and drive legally for another 6 months
To change to a Turkish one costs about 800 lira .,the main stumbling block is a certificate of education (original copy) is required

I wouldn't waste my time on this one. I got pulled over in Izmir this morning. I rolled down the window and said "good morning officer" he waved me on. Seems to me if you are English in Turkey............

This in not the issue. The issue is when you have an accident. I recently translated for a UK friend who had had a slight scrape but wanted her car repairing at the dealer on her fully comp insurance. The insurance company were very good but insisted on seeing her passport with the latest entry stamp. I am sure that the insurance would have been invalid had she been in the country more than 6 months and not obtained a Turkish licence. We are leaving the country each sixth month until we get round to a Turkish licence.

Even worse if your involved in a fatal accident, the proverbial hits the fan then. detained till a judge clears you, if he does...

6 of us trooped along to Aydin last year to try and get our school certificates accepted and verified (How they would do this with mine is anybodies guess as mu old school got pulled down in 1969 and the governing body who issued our leaving certificates was dissolved ages ago and the Gov. website that tells you how to get a copy is utter crap......every school I tried as an experiment it came up with "not recognised" even though two of them still exist . so how Turkey can properly verify a certificate is anybodies guess
The guy we went to was only interested in ORIGINAL certificates , copies weren't accepted

What level of certification are they accepting? I have seen driving courses available for Turkish primary school graduates.
