Red face Moving to Kusadasi

We are coming over the Kusadasi in May. We have had an apartment there for 5 years. We have a little boy of 4 and are interested to know if any other brits have moved over to Turkey with children of his age. He goes, every summer, to a nursery in Kusadasi but I am not sure about the schools in the area. I know there is a private school on the road to Soke, does anyone have children attending there, or anyone have children attending local schools?

Oh, how lucky you are, moving to Kusadasi
Which area of Kusadasi are you moving to ? Is it the city center, really Kusadasi or somewhere outside ?
There are some people from Davutlar here , but I wonder if anyone lives in Kusadasi itself.
I know Söke as well, nice place, has a lovely market.... and some Belgians living there as well (well, I'm from Belgium)

Re: Moving to Kusadasi

We have an apartment in the old part of Kusadasi it was originally the top floor of a pension. It is just below the statue of ataturk so it has really lovely views of the whole of kusadasi. We have bought two other villas, one a shell which we will complete and sell and another villa which we will rent out. We hope to buy old property and renovate to make money.

Still waiting to hear about the schools there!

Well ! That is indeed a perfect location , and when you say the top of a pension, I get nice ideas .
I think selling old property and renovating is, is a good thing, because lot of people still want to be more in the center , so there must be a demand for this....
Do you of you husband have experience with that kind of stuff ??

Sorry, cannot help you with the schools there....

Re: Moving to Kusadasi

We moved to kusadasi nearly 2 years ago and put our son into the private school, but soon learned it was a big mistake, he is now at a turkish school and loving it. The private school wanted money for little things everytime our son came home, it is an expensive waste of time, me and my husband was called into the school by the (turkish) english teacher and said our sons english was not very good!!! (eh he is an english boy!!) it is because they teach american english i thought english language came from england not america!!!

Thanks for that. His nursery teacher (who is english) told us that the private school wasn't very good, no discipline etc. How old is your son and which school does he attend. Really in the dark about the whole registration etc so anything you can tell us would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks

Kuskaz,

I can't speak as a resident of Turkey, but have to say that our experience of Turkish children has been quite the opposite. We never fail to be impressed by the disciplined behaviour and good manners of the Turkish children on our housing estate, and I often wish that Irish children had as much respect for their elders.

Maria.
