Fire

I don't know whether it has been mentioned on here or not, but there is a huge forest fire near to Kusadasi. I have been watching it all day. The sky went dark and blocked out the sun. The flames can now be seen coming over the mountains behind Kusadasi. Helicopters have been flying over the house all day, picking up sea water to dowse the flames. The helicopters stopped flying once the sun went down. I don't mind saying that I am shit scared. I only hope that there are not too many casualties. It seems to centered about the Ephesus area. But the sky is bright red here and flames are visable.

Unhappy Re: Fire

Hi
The flames are still going strong from the fire in Yenihisar, Altinkum.
There have been two seperate fires today. One in Yenihisar and the other in Mavisehir. We could see the bellows of smoke from our house but thankfully it didnt come near the village. The one in Mavisehir has now been put out!
Very scary looking tonight as the sky is red with flames in an area of Yenihisar.
They were also using helicopters here to put the it out.
Hopefully no one has been injured and all houses are okay.

Does sound scary. Hope no one is hurt. Saw several fires in Spain. One time I remember sitting outside and seeing ash fall down like snow.

Forest fires broke out in four separate areas in the southern Turkish province of Antalya Friday night, burning 1600 acres of forest.

The first fire erupted in the town of Kas on Friday night. Firefighters, backed by fire-extinguishing helicopters, are still fighting against the blaze.

In two separate fires in the town of Alanya, more than 1200 acres of forest were ravaged. The fires were brought under control.

In another forest fire, also now under control, in the town of Fenike, nearly 400 acres of forest were burned.
