Re: Turkish Elections

Something strange going on in the Istanbul with rumors rife within the Turkish/Kurdish community in London and coming out of Istanbul.....

RTE seems to have drawn back from the Istanbul election campaign, with his promised appearance to lead 39 rallies to promote his candidate withdrawn and his normal daily TV appearances in support of the AKP candidate cut, in the lead up to the election to only occasional. Certainly out of character.

The emphasis ,publicity and statements are now being made by the AKP's Mayoral candidate Binali ...as normally seen in a election, but not known to happen before when the micro manager in chief is in charge .....

Its not known if the new tactics could be because last time there was a lack of knowledge of the AKP candidate by the Istanbul electorate, with it being overpowered by his boss whose record on the economy had damaged the campaign in a protest vote... ....

Or is it to diffuse in the likelihood of a second loss in Istanbul, the damage too the ego of untouchable infallibility of the boss??? ... always being seen a "winner" of elections.... with this time, the blame of his policies rightly being laid at his door.

I think unfortunately an AKP loss is unlikely, especially with all the measures obstacles, media smears, electorate inducements being taken by the ruling party, to keep the ousted Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu from winning ...

There is talk that the election wont even take place stopped before election day ... or in case it does, resulting in a Imamoglu win. A case is already being developed for his arrest , so the boss can install an Administrator as he has done with HDP elected Mayors in the S/E . As shown he is quite happy to use his new powers ....with the arrest of the likes HDP leader Demircan who became to popular and seen as a rival ..... There is some evidence this could be true with the boss calling for, and a investigation being taken up by the Ministry of Interior of Imamoglu's time in office whilst Mayor of Beylikdüzü.

Re: Turkish Elections

Reported on Turkish BBC .......RTE said in a speech on Monday that the ousted Mayor of Istanbul Imamoglu should not be allowed to take up his post as Mayor on the unlikely event of a win , until he apologizes to the Government appointed Governor of Ordu for allegedly calling him a dog in an argument when the Governor barred the opposition politician from the VIP lounge whilst on a visit home to rally support from the families of relations that live in Istanbul.

https://www.bbc.com/turkce/haberler-turkiye-48671038

The ousted Mayor İmamoğlu denied the claim he insulted the governor, stating he merely underlined the governor's "vulgarity" during the argument. İmamoğlu also said that the governor of Ordu had been obstructive throughout his visit looking to cause some incident ,with the Governor earlier telling him to end his rally in the province and warned that the authorities would intervene if he did not.

The Governor has filed a legal complaint with him being Military and in Uniform when insulted, and threatened, in doing so he has defamed the state and the institutions that the Governor in uniform represented, the Turkish security forces.

Looks like Imamoglu has been provoked and framed to be used if he wins the election ...

Re: Turkish Elections

The ruling party is all out to smear the ousted Istanbul Mayor Imamoglu, it started with reporting he was not a real Turk but having Greek ethnicity ... not true.

They have said he has connections to the PKK having gained votes from the HDP electorate ... the votes true the PKK connection Not True.

They have said he is connected to the alleged coup plotters FETO .. having used the same tactic by asking for backup of the IBB database, true he asked.... not true it was Feto inspired .... but was to prove the partisan excesses in spending of the past AKP administration ..

They have said he has cheated in the live debate having met the moderator prior to the debate in hotel ... true he met, but untrue..... for anything untoward as the moderator is on record to admitting to inviting both candidates to meet, to layout the ground rules of the debate .. Imamoglu met the moderator his rival Binali couldn't make the meeting but spoke over the phone ( "set up" with media in wait) ..

They have said he has disrespected the Military and the Turkish State after reacting to the AKP appointed Ordu Governor harassed Imamoglu on his visit home to the Black Sea by ordering a rally to be stopped and denying him access to the VIP lounge in the airport .... RTE has said of the incident in the unlikely event of an Imamoglu win in Istanbul he should be barred from the post till he apologizes to the Governor ....who has since on advice taken out a criminal case on supposed insult .....

hook or by crook they seem to want to deny the electorate of an Imamoglu win ....All was reported and seen in the pro Government Press and on ruling party dominant TV channels as true and factual .....fake news

Re: Turkish Elections

In my view Imamoğlu is a very brave man because he could soon be joining Demirtaş in Silivri.
