Re: knock knock!
I'm back and fore to Kus all the time, I'm in the UK for the next ten days then back to Kusadasi until Christmas - despite a four hour drive to Gatwick those BA flights have made my life a lot easier and the prices have been great from the start, hope they keep it up.
I love Kusadasi in the off season, it's so friendly and real and so much calmer than during the season. Even with some of the tourist restaurants closed down we still find great places to eat and some of the restaurants we love invite us to their homes for meals when they close their main premises!
When its cooler I'm more likely to take days out too, my favourite time to visit Ephesus is the winter and I spent a day exploring the Millipark and Doganbey recently which was cool.
I read the forum every day but don't post much lately.

Re: knock knock!
Hi Karyn,
That was a lovely and relaxed posting, I loved reading it, I'm very fond of Kus myself, but have never been there in winter, only in spring and autumn but I sure would like to do it...
Where do you stay when you go to Kus during winter, do hotels have central heating then (well, it is not always warm there, isn't it ?)
From Brussels there are no direct flights to Izmir during winter, we have to fly to Antalya (and then take a buss) or to Istanbul and then a domestic flight to Izmir (which is far more expensive then taking a charter)....

Re: knock knock!
Hi Nadine
Glad you liked the post, I've got more bits and pieces about Kusadasi on my homepage, the link is in my profile.
If we havent got a house we stay in hotels, there are lots open during the winter. This year we're staying in the Charisma which is really nice and warm. Some hotels have just air-con heating, others have central heating. Last years we were in the Pine Bay and it wasnt very nice, the Charisma is lovely (apart from the food which is yuck).
It's a shame you cant get a flight to Izmir. We were using Turkish Airlines last year and going via Istanbul and it wasnt too expensive, and sometimes we were lucky and got a flight with Cyprus Turkish airlines. The BA flights are fantastic though, £44 each way most of the time. I was worried that they would start cancelling them if there wasnt enough interest but every flight I have been on since they started has been full, so I wonder why the charter companies cancel flights when BA are filling flights in off season!
Enough rambling on!

Re: knock knock!
Oh Karyn,
What a lovely site you made, I loved to read in it, you have a very nice way of writing, I especially loved how you wrote that Turks don't like "eski" things, no they don't, they so want to be modern..... that's true
I never heard of Kirazli village, though I have been to Söke and Sirinci, I might visit it next time then.
Are you restauring a house in Kirazli then ? It sounds like that, because you were talking about your architect
Oh, and another question, about that Italian restaurant, would that be on the road let's say between Kismet hotel and going up to Korumar or is it further on that road (direction Pine Bay ?). Because you talk about the Antipli et lokantasi (have been there a few times, nice food) , and that is on that road......
Bye, thanks for the website,
Nadine

Re: knock knock!
Hi
Yes we're restoring an old house at the moment, it's our second one in the village.
The Italian Restaurant is on the road to the Korumar, but they are closed at the moment and are looking for new premises for next season, they didnt like spending the whole summer season opposite the building site that was the Charisma!
My husband had dinner with the owners last night and says the pizza they served him was not only the best tasting but the prettiest he has ever seen! It was a shame to eat it! I'll put their new location on the website when they decide where it is going to be.
I'll probably add some more articles to the site in the next few days, my husband is at a wedding in Soke tonight and just sent me a text saying he has been dragged into the dancing and has taken lots of photos so that will be fun to write about.
I used Mrs Who's post to brief him on what to expect from attending a Turkish Wedding! That post was fascinating.
