Boy did I learn the hard way on this one.
The missus always insisted I look after the guarantee that accompanied anything we bought. I never understood why, afterall I had the receipt or bill of purchase for most items.
How stupid did I feel later when we needed service.
Its not like the UK here.
In the UK if you had a problem with a television, you would go back to the company you bought it from.... Yes?
Nope! Not in Turkey. They might sympathise with your problem but they are absolved once the goods leave the shop.
All goods sold, electrical, white goods etc. are covered by a service representative and it is your responsibility to contact them.
The till receipt will count for nothing - its a valid guarantee they will want to see and without it, you wont have a leg to stand on.
Please learn from my mistakes...
Anything you buy:
Get a written receipt in your name for the goods sold.
(You will need this if you ever need to claim on a insurance policy).
More importantly, make sure a guarantee is filled out at the time of sale and officially stamped by the shop.
Make yourself a dossier and staple the bill of sale to the guarantee and make sure you know where to find it months later.
Merv!
