Discount cards

I have heard you can get discount cards for the supermarkets.
Can anyone tell me how you get them and how they work?
Apparently you can save yourself quite a few bob.

I have a Migros card (in fact I have 2) and when we first shopped there we completed a form and piad 1 million and got the card on the spot. You get the goods at special offer rates, if there are any on and you can also redeem the points tyou collect for a voucher to use as cash at the checkout. Gima also do one but we have not got one yet. I would liken it a bit to the Boots advantage card system, you swipe the card through the machine at the shop entrance and read what you have got. Or hope someone will read it for you as I only have a smattering of Turkish words.

What about Tansas? I dont know how they compare with each other?

Tansas do a card but the missus has never been able to get one as they always seem to be out of stock!

Roll on the day Tesco takes them over!

Thanks for the info, very helpful. Would we need to take something with our address on it
to show them. We are going out there in two weeks to furnish a new apartment so we haven't got anything with address except the contract, would we need something else?

I know they have a form to fill in when you make an application for the card however, there is no checkup made at Migros and I dont understand what the fuss is about a valid address. They dont send freebies or any promo material to addresses anyway?

I would just stick your own address in and wing it. They want your custom afterall.

Dont confuse this sort of loyalty card with that of your Tesco or Boots - with Tesco/Boots they take your "points" seriously and you can even check your card number on their home pages to see what your point status is and what offers you qualify for. Thats without the usual ream of vouchers they send to your home.

Migros doesnt have this on their site and I must say that apart from the in-store offers they give to loyalty cardholders, this is nothing more than a gimmick.

Hopefully someone else that lives here can prove me wrong?

When I signed up for my Migros and Gima cards, I didn't need any proof of address. I just needed to know how to write it!!! I printed some change of address cards to give to my friends and family before I left UK, so I used this for filling in my forms at the supermarkets.
