Weighing up the Cost of Exporting....
This thread is really aimed at anyone specifically moving over here permanently but could also under some circumstances I guess, apply to someone furnishing their 2nd home here too.
In Turkey premium brand white goods and electronic equipment are heavily inflated in price.
As an example, I recently bought a Siemens Microwave/Cooker/Does Everything and it set me back a whopping 2000YTL. Those lovely looking spacious American Style fridges command aprice in excess of 3000YTL these days. A all-electric Siemens cooker will set you back a whopping 1800YTL whilst a Philips 100Hz 42" TV sells for around 3500YTL.
These are cash prices - not credit!
If one was moving from abroad permanently and had a significant amount of premium brand goods, I was wondering where the point would be reached where you would actually be in profit as opposed to selling off everything before you leave and then having to rebuy here?
I appreciate its not cheap to bring a container over, as well as the burden of tax applied to imported goods however, it could be worth researching when the majority of goods are premium brands.
