packing boxes/crates??
Hi All,
We are moving to bodrum this winter and have quite a bit of stuff we'd like to take with us. Not furniture or anything, but just books, pictures, wedding presents...home stuff. Has anyone else done this? Whats the best way and how long does it take? Can anyone recommend any reliable freight companies?
Thankyou!!

I have some links on companies that do land moves, but have never had any feedback or know anyone that has used them.
Depending on the weight and volume, is it possible you could use air freight to ship? Turkish Airlines has a comprehensive site on freight and associated costs however, they only ship freight from Gatwick to Istanbul so you would have to sort a local company for the transfer from Istanbul to Bodrum.
I do know and can recommend a private company that can handle the Turkish end.
Have a look here Turkish Airlines Freight Handling
http://www.thy.com/en/cargo/info.htm
Its one option to consider.

We used Sumerman's of Istanbul when we moved out here. If you want their details send me a PM or e-mail.

You could send RIK an email they moved out to Turkey last year, I think they had their stuff shipped to Izmir.
Also my son works for a Freight company so I'll see if he can get any prices for you. Are you shipping by air or sea??

Re: packing boxes/crates??
Hi All
Thanks for your advice and ideas. Haven't really thought about how to do it yet, gotta find a house in Bodrum, pack up our rented house in UK and decide on what we want to take. SHouldn't be too much stuff, I hope.
Im probably jumping the gun slightly witht this thread but just so desperate to get going!

Re: packing boxes/crates??
Hi All,
Was looking back through my posts and found this one...thanks for all being so helpful!!
Well, the time has come, we are no longer jumping the gun, and moving to Turkey at the end of NEXT MONTH. It has gone so fast. We have been saying 'we'll sort it after Christmas' for ages, and now...aargh!!
Anyway, the point of bumping up this post...can anyone please PM me with details of removal companies they can recommend? Websites, phone numbers etc. We dont have furniture, just about 10 boxes I think. I read somewhere on here that less than 500kg's goes through customs quicker and easier?
Would really appreciate any help

Re: packing boxes/crates??
I have just had some information from Dolphin in the UK. I sent an e-mail one evening and got a reply the next day and that was only last week.
http://www.dolphinmovers.com/dolphi...ge=contact&ID=1
They ship to Izmir large or small. I got their name as recommended on another site but even if you don't use them they can be worth a contact as they e-mailed me info about moving goods to turkey.
Good luck - hoping to be doing the same as you in about 5/6 months.
