My partner and I have lived in Calis for the past year and we are now in the process of evaluating our decision to move to Turkey.
Whilst we have quite enjoyed the summer in Calis we did find that when most of the area closed down for the winter that it was rather a boring place to live. We figured that this was possibly because Calis was a seasonal resort so, with this in mind, we have started to explore the possibility of moving to a non-resort town. We have seen several references to Koycegiz but we were recently told that winters in Koycegiz were about as exciting as living in the Falkland Islands.
Does anyone have any first hand knowledge of life in Koycegiz please?

I agree Turkey is very different in winter to that of the tourist season, I personally like the quieter months, Fethiye is only a short distance 3-4km from Calis, this is a working town and has a little more life in the off seasons. Koycegiz, is much quieter than Calis so this may not be for you either it is more of a working village than a town. I know that I would love to reside in Koycegiz but my husband does need to have a bit more life and variety so unfortunately the move permanently to Koycegiz is out of my hands, we Live between Calis and Fethiye, so I have my quieter life and Hubby does not have to go too far afield to enjoy a little more interaction.
I have friends in Koycegiz and like to visit them, I enjoy the peace and quiet and laid back life, but as other parts of Turkey become expensive more and more people are finding their way to Koycegiz and I can see this in the future becoming a popular residential town/resort.
Antalya is much more a city than a town and with flights well established for the winter season this may be an area for you to explore, it is favoured in the wnter by more Germans and Russians.
