Urgent passport renewals

Due to a tendancy to bugger off abroad at the drop of a hat we hadn't got around to renewing hubbie's passport and with another possible trip to Turkey next week we were in a bit of a rush to get his passport sorted out.

A quick check online at the Passport Office and we found they do a Premium, fast, same day service. Okay, it costs £96.50, nearly double the normal renewal fee but it really works when you need it and that still works out as less that £10 a year for the lifetime of the passport.

One phonecall to a helpful member of staff and we had an appointment for the following morning at the passport office. Once we arrived the application was processed in literally five minutes and we were told to come back in four hours to pick up the new passport. After a pleasant lunch and a bit of shopping we arrived back and right on time the new passport appeared.

And the truly amazing thing - the staff at the passport office were the nicest, friendliest, most polite and efficient civil servants we have ever met. Even the security guards were charming, super friendly and helpful. For once in the UK we paid for a premium service and actually got it!

So, if for any reason you need to make an emergency application for a passport here's the link:- UK Same Day Passport Service

Hi To you All

I haven't used this service but I renewed mine and my Wife's online, you fill the required form online, you then receive a hard copy through the post for you to sign, send it off with old passport and in my case 3 Days later get the new one back, It took about 10 days in all which I didn't think was to bad.

Happy Traveling to you

Ray

Thumbs down Re: Urgent passport renewals

Just done ours as the passport renewall price was going up £9 on 1st December. We renewed 10 months early to beat the deadline but the passport office allowed us an extra 9 months on the 10 years for renewing early.

Have read that in a couple of years time you will have to get a compulsory ID card (cost £93 + the passport cost) when renewing your passport. So keep an eye open as it might be worth renewing early in the future and not have to have the compulsory ID card.

Yes I'm looking into that to!

Have found a property in Koycegiz which I liked and my sister went to have a look at it for me before she flies back to the UK tomorrow

passport renewals in Turkey

Can anyone give me directions to the British Consulate in either Kuşadaşi or Bodrum. Also current costd of renewing British passport in Turkey, I understand it is more expensive here than UK. Any problems I should anticipate? Thank you

İm in the process of renewing my 10 year passport..you can download the forms from the embassy website C1..the fees are 225 lira +20 lira postage if you are posting it
the thing thats bothering me at the moment is getting the photos right as they have to be a special format now....anybody know??
heres a little from the website.

Applying for a passport

If you're living overseas, you can apply for your first British passport at most British Embassies, Consulates and High Commissions. If you have lost your passport or it's been stolen, please go to our Lost and Stolen page.
The process
Applying

1. Print out the correct application form from the list below. We have also provided guidance notes to help you complete your application form. Please note that the forms below are in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). To open them on screen and print out, you’ll need Adobe Acrobat Reader (version 4 or above). You can download it free of charge from the Adobe website. We accept application forms printed in black and white.
2. Once you have printed out and completed the form, initial each page in the box provided. We cannot accept your application if this is not done.
3. With your application form, you must also include two identical passport photographs, taken within the last three months. The passport-sized photographs must meet the standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
4. Send your form, supporting documents and the fee (in local currency) to a British Consulate, Embassy or High Commission. You can also submit your application in person. See our fees page for further details.
