Living Costs
I am considreing retiring to Turkey. Can someone who lives there give me some idea of living costs.
I was thinking of a 3 bed appt. and would be doing all my own catering with the occasional meal out.
Also how are you experiencing the inflation rate in Turkey of 23%!!!

Hi Tom,
We have been doing our calculations for next years move and find the following is the average living costs based on todays standard of living, ignoring future inflation etc and Brits making the place more expensive!?
Average salary per month is £300- £400 (not including commissions) for an expat and consider enough to live on, pay house bills etc for apartment.
A couple with no children, 2 bed house, car running costs is approx £5000-£6000 per annum.
Couple with Children 3 bed house, car running costs is approx £7500 - £8500 per annum.
The above we worked in all bills like insurance, tax, clothing and going out once a week for meal and the odd drink, and still have a little bit spare. The most expensive part is as usual running the car, car tax is very steep in Turkey especially on Luxuary cars ( and a Ford Focus is considered a luxuary car!). Every day items are cheap as chips as long as you shop in the right place!
Obviously we calculated these costs based upon our own circumstances which will differ between individuals etc etc.
Regards
Dipps
