Re: Knitting wool

there is a wool shop located in the small mall just behind the Denizbank off the main road from the Bus Depot to the seaside. I am not sure if they sell Turkish made wool.

I buy quite a lot of yarn in Antalya area and it's always been made in Turkey. I didn't realise they sold anything other than Turkish.

Re: Knitting wool

Is it genuine real sheep wool or is it a manmade knitting yarn?

The stuff I buy is acrylic hence my referring it as yarn. The term wool is used loosely for knitting yarn so I'm not sure if the post above is for real wool or yarn.

Re: Knitting wool

Thanks all for replying. My sister in law buys wool on line from Turkey because it is good quality and great price although the cost of the postage is now becoming so expensive. She is coming to Bodrum for the first time with me and wondered if she could buy some wool whilst she is here. I think she would buy different types of “wool” Most of her knitting is for charities for needy babies/ children. Again thanks for replies and info

Re: Knitting wool

I'd be very wary of anything labelled wool. It's often a blend, mixed with acrylic etc. Sometimes it's recycled wool, nothing wrong with that.
At home I handspin pure wool straight off the fleece and have never seen Turkish sheep with a good enough quality fleece for wool production. They seem to be bred for meat and milk.
