Re: Greetings!
Hi All
Just arrived home last night, was out for nearly three weeks.
Yes, our villa is finally finished. Although we were told it was finished for when we arrived, it wasn't, couldn't move in for a week.
While we were out villa 15 was finished (one on the left hand corner at front when looking from villas to apartments).
Anne & Pete's no. 17 directly opposite us is nearly complete. While we were there they were putting up the outside and inside metal work there was one round window left to be put in. Anne, will give you a call soon.
Apart from that there is little work going on, but by all accounts the villas on phase 2 (not sure if it is all of them) should be finished by next Spring 2010 (April time). We heard that work will commence at the begining of Oct 09, I am out again on 17 Oct, so will be able to report back on that when I get back.
Weather was in the mid 40s in the daytime and evenings were also very hot.
Beach, restaurants etc were not unbearably full, in fact some restaurants were quite quiet for July.
I would recommend if you need car hire to prebook. We booked a car for a few days when we got there, but tried to book a car in Akbuk and Altinkum and all small cars were booked out, so we ended up using the Dolmus when the first car went back.
Met some really lovely people, Heather and her husband and friend, Elaine and Brian, who were really kind and bought us a moving in present. Ian and Diane and their three children who loved our (small) pool. Andy with the moped. Denise and her Mum and Dad. Angela, Alan and their daughter who celebrated her 22nd birthday. Colin & Carol who helped us out a lot (we thank you) great to meet their grandchildren from the UK too - sorry if I have missed anyone.
Also met (non Pyramid) Chaz and Tanya ex-pats, who I am sure will become goodfriends (Chaz fitted our window locks for us, seems window locks are not common in Turkey, Akbuk area anyway). If anyone wants some fitted I can PM his details.
Anyway, this had made up really want to go back to our Turkish lessons now we will be going out to Turkey more often.
We have photos of most of the villas, once we have downloaded them, I will post them on TLF website.
Best wishes everyone.
Caroline & Gary (villa no. 10)
