Any members not on a complex?
On our complex the management costs seem to increase all the time and we are now being charged for a security man because a couple of the other owners complained about the lack of security (the rest of us were not asked for an opinion!) Once our tapu is sorted out we are going to price up other management companies but I wandered how many TLF members had properties that were not on a complex and whether this works out OK.

Re: Any members not on a complex?
Hi
We are not on a complex and it works very well, no yearly maintence charges we do not have a pool but are so close to 3rd beach we dont need one, if anything needs doing as im living there i just get done and the rest in our block just pay me when they are over.
We have now brought a villa so the Duplex will be going up for sale if anyone is interested.

Re: Any members not on a complex?
We aren't in a complex either and wouldn't really want to be. All I seem to hear are stories of conflict over costs whether it be one kind of maintenance or another.
We are in a small street quite close to Dolphin square. A lot of our neighbours are turkish & are there all year round so it gives us a little peace of mind securitywise. Having said that our apt has steel reinforced shutters too.
We are really happy with our lot.

Re: Any members not on a complex?
We were in a complex - two blocks of 6 apartments each - and couldn't wait to get out. As Pete says, there was always conflict over something or other. 10 apartment owners would agree, but always the same two couples would disagree with anything proposed, unless they proposed it themselves. Now living in a stone house in a small village with Turkish neighbours - result, no problems, we can choose how to plant the garden and how much watering we do and how long the swimming pool can be used. If we want to go for a midnight dip we can!

Re: Any members not on a complex?
Thankyou for your comments, we are moving out to the apartment Feb/March time and we will be considering putting the apartment up for sale and looking for somewhere more suited to permanent living.

Re: Any members not on a complex?
I am on a small complex with a pool. I prefer it as there is security, a gardener who maintains the gardens beautifully and I don't have to worry about the pool. I pay the same per month for everything as I was paying for just a weekly visit from a gardener before the site was completed and the company formed. All the other members are Turkish we all pay the same and the manager is happy to show me the accounts at any time. They all seem happy to comply with my wishes for the pool to be open when I visit a bit earlier in the season. So for the moment I am very happy with it. I know the man who works there will do his job properly as the Turkish members insist on it. I didn't have that same feeling when I employed my own gardener.

Youv'e probably fell very lucky there. The Turkish owners won't stand for any ripping off.

Re: Any members not on a complex?
Yes I think you are right and I am lucky. I have heard tales of Brits who have been over charged, complexes that are not well run etc. I was a bit concerned about how it would work but so far all is well. If I was living there all the time i would probably prefer not to be on a complex and manage it myself.
