Abuse of properties

I have got this message off my civil engineer friend. Asked him about agents letting peoples property off without their knowledge; This is the answer:

Nobody can rent your apartment without your permission. If somebody tries to do such a thing, this person will be punished by law.
As soon as getting your apartment, you should change all your locks with the new ones. If your door is wooden you should have it changed to a door made of steel so that nobody can enter into.

Most of us did so to protect against burglars.

So there is a law!

its common sense that its unlawful to rent your property behind your back but i doubt if you would get much help from the police

The problem we have had down here is rentals happening during the time between deposits being paid and keys being handed over. This has not happened a lot but enough to make people wary. estates agents in question have suceeded in giving them selves a bad reputation...

Absolutely - in a nutshell.

Complain to the police and open a whole can of worms IMO.

Although it was hard to detect at first. I feel agent may have used my apartment. Also learnt he had heen using peoples apartments as he didn't have his own anymore. Black hairs in the bed, toilet not clean, toilet roll finished and cushion on top of sheets I put over the suite.
There was no damage just looked as if it had been slept in. In fact I had to scrutinise for this.
I had locks changed as I feel one set of keys was missing.

How horrible Ivy, the cheeky ******** how dare he I would be furious if our place was used without our permission. I have got the security guy with a key and two of our British friends who live there, one of them looks after it for us whilst we're not there so hopefully that won't happen to us !!!

Instead of going to the expense of having the locks changed, it's often very easy to swap the barrels of the locks around in the property. For instance you could swap the front door barrel with that of the balcony door or just go to a hardware store and buy a replacement barrel. It justs takes a screwdriver and a few minutes. If any body in the Fethiye area needs help with this, get in touch with me.
