How much do you pay for cleaning?

Its time to ask for a cleaning team to my house.
As I am 24 hours busy with my baby so my house came to a pretty bad condition.
The thing is that we got used to pay 50 YTL for cleaning our 3+1 including windows.
Once my English friend came to me asking to find somebody to clean her house. When I said that the price is 50 YTL she said that its very expensive and even in England prices are cheaper! So she prefered to find somebody else.
How much do you pay in Turkey and is 50 YTL really expensive?

Hi Maviska. Here in Antalya we pay 45 YTL once a week. The young Lady that ' does ' for us is great.she cleans a very large 3 bedroom duplex from top to bottom, all furniture pulled out and pictures taken down etc. Our Danish friends here have now taken her on board as well. 50 YTL is not expensive.

We paid 50YTL to have our new villa completely cleaned top to bottom (2 bedroom ensuite rooms) downstairs bathroom and large lounge with kitchen off and the lady did a wonderful job, the place spotless. We were so pleased we gave her extra as we felt she deserved it, so dont think it is too much.

You will pay more for 'one-off', and 30ytl a day seems to be lowest for regular work. You may nor feel you want a complete top to bottom every week. You may also be expected to feed the cleaner. 50ytl seems on high side considering they are not paying tax etc, and is too high for regular work.

Here in Yalikavak I pay 60 ytl for cleaning large 3 bedroomed villa --and that is by a relation !!
That seems the normal price for a regular clean in this area for the size of house

Re: How much do you pay for cleaning?

You have got to look at this as hiring labour for a day, irrespective of how big the house is: unskilled labour at that. 50ytl+ puts them in the earning bracket of (taxpaying) craftsmen and bank managers.
It really is about the local labour market so don't be tempted to pay above the rate.

Whoa thats an eye opener....our committee are paying the gardener/maintainance 1200 Ytl per month . A few residents have complained as we feel it is excessive but unless we know the average wage we have to rely on what we are told by the developer.

Re: How much do you pay for cleaning?

EL our site of 14 house pays our gem of a gardener/handy man YTL650 a month on top of that there are taxes and insurance but my site manager reckons the whole lot should come to no more than 900 lira a month. I have all the figures somewhere so i'll have a go at translating them. He is an absolute star and does all kinds of things. The gardens look amazing and he waters and weeds everything including pots, he politely questions anyone who visits the houses when the owners are not there, he takes away all rubbish, does the pool which is always spotless, looked after my tortoise, does repairs to the houses for whatever you want to give him, runs up on his motor bike and pays my bills, does a round at night, keeps an eye open for problems etc. He is to receive a small pay rise this year. I don't know how many hours a week he works but he always seems to be around.

In line with the Minimum Wage Determination Commission’s decision, the minimum wage will be increased as of July 1 until the end of the year. Under the decision, the minimum wage for people older than 16 years, which is currently 562.50 YTL gross and 403.03 YTL net, will be 585 YTL gross and 419.15 net. The increase in net minimum wage is 16.12 YTL.

The minimum wage for housekeepers, which is currently 562.50 YTL gross and 474.75 net, will be 585 YTL gross and 493.74 YTL net. The changes to be valid as of July 1 will also increase the cuts on the minimum wage and the costs to the employer.
The cuts from the minimum wage for people over 16 years old will be 165.85, for those under 16 years old will be 139.31 and for housekeepers 91.26 YTL.
The total cost of the minimum wage for the employer will be 710.18 for employees over 16 years old, 631.22 for employees under 16 years old and 710.78 for housekeepers. The upper and lower limits of the salary to be taken the basis of social insurance premium will also change with the new minimum wage.
The lower limits for the social insurance, which is currently 562.50, the gross minimum wage, will be increased to 585 YTL and the upper limit, which is around 3,656.25 YTL will be 3,802.50 YTL. The upper and lower limits for the social insurance will be valid until December 31, 2007, with the new minimum wage."

You should not be paying much more than this for a gardener handyman. And if you take this and work out the daily rate for a six day week, suddenly 50ytl+ looks very expensive.
