New Artesian Well
This might be helpful to some of you involved in site management because it is an example of how Turks do things.
Ours is predominantly Turkish site of 50 houses with large swimming pool and minimal public area and they take advice from a Turkish lawyer. We have had a new artesian well installed. The work was carried out earlier this year and included running new water pipes to each house which involved digging up and relaying the cobbled road within the estate. The following is an extract of a letter from our Baskan at the end of last year giving details:
“Since it would not be sound to make a repair to the artesian well on our estate, I decided that it would be better and more economical to have a new well opened.
From the offers and payment terms I received, I accepted the offer most suitable for us…… The well is 50 metres deep. I agreed the sum 80.00 ytl + vat per metre. We are making one payment up front and 4 instalments. One amount was requested when the work commenced followed by payment within one month of completion. A new pump with a capacity of 4hp has been purchased and installed, and is now in use.
The present water is suitable for drinking. In order for water from the well……to be supplied automatically to the pool, grass and showers it is necessary to install an underground water depot with a capacity of 5 - 7 tons, in addition to which, a water pump is to be purchased.
When this work has been completed the system will work automatically and even the pool balance tank will be filled without supervision. From the side of the depot I will leave the necessary connection from which to provide all the properties with an outside tap for watering the gardens.”
Needless to say, many of the residents who didn’t vote for the Baskan are complaining bitterly about the cost. Some things are the same the world over.
