Re: Selling your house
Hi Cemcem,
I know the feeling!! When i returned to my house in the UK after buying my house here, I was as miserable as hell and sat about moping. Chin up though, these things happen for a reason and the right buyer will come along when the time is right. For the minute, keep the dream alive chatting with us here on the forum :-)

Re: Selling your house
Have you noticed any other houses in your immediate neighbourhood selling?
Have you put in the details furniture is being left? Although furnished properties are snapped up in Turkey as instant holiday homes you usually find Brits have got plenty of their own stuff or very definite ideas of what they want so are looking for unfurnished (with the exception been in student let areas etc where properties are let furnished).
Just my opinion but İ would get rid of as much stuff as you can manage without and present it as a blank canvas. You could also consider a modest reduction in price as 'new price' properties attract attention. A lot of investors are constantly scouring for buy-to-lets or refurbs but they want it below market value at about 10%. But they will pay cash often and do the deal very quickly. They advertise in papers in property wanted sections. This might be a viable last resort for you.
İf İ could go back in time İ would not have sold my last house in the UK - İ would have taken a loan for the expenses we needed to cover and let it out. Property in the UK is money in the bank for the future. Much more so than Turkish property at the moment
Good luck with your sale.

If it were me and it was financially feasable i think i would hand my UK property over to a rental company. Always nice to have a nest egg in Blighty.

Re: Selling your house
UK rental companies not that good, they do nothing you cannot do yourself. make sure you have another English or welsh 'serving' address (scotland different rules) and go to Smiths for a pre printed short hold tenancy form,(just a few quid) get it all signed up, and rock n'roll your off!! Between selling one house and buying another some time ago,We rented a shorthold tenancy. They were supposed to inspect every 3 months, however we always paid our rent on time and we never saw them at all! We eventually rentd out our uk home on a smiths form, and had no problems.

In the Cheshire area houses are not moveing either, my sister has had her house up for sale for a few months - I think the cheaper houses are going because they are affordable for 1st time buyers, also houses that need renovating are bing snapped up as they have prospect of investment but anything over 165,000 is slow or the more expensive is at standstill. Germain came up with good idea and is worth a thought until the market is better anyway - it hasnt helped that the mortgage interest rate is on the up either so people will be more caution.
You'll be there in your lovely house soon so dont despair

Re: Selling your house
Hi, dont give up hope...our house was on the market nearly 3 months and we only had one viewing and that person loved it and we are now near completion.
The market is very slow..as already been said in the higher price regions.
I have seen in one estate agents nearly all the houses reduced by £10,000 and they have still not sold...so hang on in there as buyers will offer less anyway.
It only takes one buyer...hope it happens soon for you.Joy

Re: Selling your house
Has anyone had a look at the banner advert on the left (A Faster Sale)?
Not been through the details, but looks like a company that will buy your UK property, most probably at a discounted price?

Hi Mushtaq
This business or similar has been discussed at length on another thread and unless people are really desperate and just want a minimum return,it is not a good course of action by the seller in my opinion as they buy low and sell high.
I also think its unfortunate that this banner should exist on a site thats full of impressionable innocent people who are keen to move to Turkey

Re: Selling your house
Incredible how the British housing mkt. rides the roller coaster, I remember many years ago, having seen a house that was below value for sale, literally running through the streets of Ipswich to get in the solicitors to beat someone else on a contract race! However, as I have said before, I feel the mkt. will only be fuelled by 1st time buyers, as they control the upward movement to a degree, and with now ridiculous and grossly over valued uk property, 1st time buyers cannot now afford to buy. Therefore I expect a bit of blue mould to grow on the uk housing mkt. and at some stage, the bubble has to burst.
