Marmaris in February
I rarely visit Marmaris from my holiday home in Datca. I go with all kinds of plans to 'get about' then when I arrive I go into relaxation mode, especially when it's hot and hardly go anywhere. Anyway this February will be different, it won't be hot so I'm going to be adventurous. A day trip to Marmaris on the bus is on the cards. What will it be like? Quiet I know but what about shops and things, will they be open? I've walked past the castle but it was summer and too hot to be bothered so will that be open and is it worth a visit? Any ideas of what to see or do there.

Re: Marmaris in February
I live in Marmaris for most of the year and we love the winter there as its easy to walk around everywhere. There are shops and restaurants open and a walk around the marina is lovely as there are places open for eating and drinking etc. Head for NIL cafe along the marina as they do really nice meals and ask for Tomas or Ibo and they will look after you, we have known them for years. The castle may well be open then. We also love Datca and were looking there to buy somewhere last year but are still trying to sell our property in Marmaris. Rita..

Re: Marmaris in February
Hi Jane, I shall be in Turunc Feb 9 - 29th would love to meet up and have a coffee, it will be my first time there in the winter months, I too looking forward to walking around Marmaris and elsewhere as it will be cooler and less crowded, but as you say, I too go into the relax mode and dont move out of Turunc, but I really hope to change that this visit. - Joan

Re: Marmaris in February
Hi Rita and Joan. Thanks for your replies. My only visits to Marmaris have been in very hot weather so I'm glad to hear it will be 'open' during cooler weather. A bit of retail therapy might be fun. Joan, I will arrive with my sister in law (we are leaving the blokes behind) on 11th Feb so our trip out could well be on 13th or 14th Feb. We'd love to meet up with you for coffee in Marmaris - Rita would you like to join us? I'll pm my Turkish mobile number shortly and you can phone me after 11th Feb if you are interested.

thankyou Kaplumba that would be really nice. At the moment I am in UK for yearly hospital checks but if I am back in Marmaris by then I would love to meet up. I have just this moment spoken to my Turkish friend and he said that the weather has been lovely in Marmaris. Mind you it is quite mild here today. Rita..
