Icmeler restaurant or locanta please
A frıend of mıne ıs vısıtıng İçmeler at the end of September, I wıll be goıng up to see them for lunch one day.
As I don't know the area and need to make the arrangement to meet, can anyone suggest a good restaurant serving Turkish food, with a nice atmosphere in which to spend a long pleasant afternoon with the best of Turkish cuisine? Directions will be useful too.

Re: Icmeler restaurant or locanta please
We were there last year and we ate at a fantastic fresh fish restaurant. The fish was wonderfully cooked, the salid and breads were also nice and the atmosphere very relaxing and friendly. The also have a decent Turkish menu as well/
As for directions, it is just on the outskirts of Icmeler, on the main road travelling back towards Marmaris. It was very close to a water fun park. From the town center it is about a 15-20 min walk. I can't rememer the name, but if you find the water park, it is another 400 m or so on the same side as the park. You should see an illumniated sign saying 'Fresh Fish' or something.

GaryP: Thanks for that, I don't know the area, but is it short of eating places?
I was expecting more responses from people who have been there.
I live in Fethiye and the place is stuffed with restaurants of all types.
About the one you suggest - what is it like for prices? What is the view like? Is there a good selection of things other than fish?

Re: Icmeler restaurant or locanta please
Içmeler is really touristy and the real turkish places that sell lahmacun, pide etc are not easy to find. The only restaurant I can think of that is Turkish that would be easy to find is The Black Sea Restaurant which is in the area where all the ATMs are, near the Park Metropol Hotel. Its upstairs but the sign is big enough to see.
Other good ones are Bonjourno, Cavallier (italian) and The Love Boat (corny name I know but the food was nice and tables are properly set).
By the way the Water Park has closed now!

Re: Icmeler restaurant or locanta please
There are surprisingly very few restaurants selling a variety of Turkish dishes in Icmeler. Most of the restaurants cater for the UK/European tastebuds and you will very many restaurants can serve up a Spaghetti Bolognaise, etc but not many selling Turkish food. We did find some when we were there last year (can't remember their names or even the street names), but mainly away from the town centre. If you go away from the centre, in to the back streets and you will have more luck. Kebabs are common enough and most of these places have a few other turkish dishes on the menu. There are also a copule of Gozleme houses where the gozleme is very tasty and very cheap.
There was one extraordinary place in the centre, which served up Mexican, Chinese, Italian and Indiasn food all from one restaurant. It was 'eat as much as you like', cheap at £6. The first time we went there in included a free drink. The second time it didn't as it could'nt have been very profitable for them. however, unlike the 'eat as much as you like places' in England, it wasn't a buffet style meal but literally order from the menu whatever you like.

Re: Icmeler restaurant or locanta please
try Bonjour right in the centre near the Atm machines.
Just ask directions to the square with the atm's, its along a row of restaurants, along a slip road behind the flower bed area.

Re: Icmeler restaurant or locanta please
To be honest there arent many decent places to eat out in Icmeler in my opinion but then again I dont go there often. Im not all that impressed with restaurants in Marmaris either... maybe Im hard to please!? I heard from my cousin who stayed there in August that The Windmill is good. If I were you I"d go to Kervan Ocakbasi which is on the right side of the road as you leave Marmaris heading to Icmeler. Its a typical turkish grill kebab restaurant. Full of turks every day and night. Gorgeous food and decent prices. Sorry cant be of more help!
