Having been in Marmaris for quite a number of years and spent quite a few Winters there it is quite nice. There are still lots of places open around the marina and also a number of shops that stay open. Winter is nice because there are not many tourists and walking around is very easy. Nov/Dec/Jan weather is quite good but nights a lot cooler. You have warm days and rainy days and inside the apartment feels colder than outside. Marmaris has got quite a large expat community and it is getting larger. We have now sold up after a number of years being there and are thinking of looking at somewhere else that is quieter (in Turkey). I hope this is of help to you..................

I don't know what Marmaris is like in the winter, but I can remember when I first came to live in Kusadasi in 1990. That first winter was a shock to the system! It was like a ghost town...after 6pm you didn't see a sinner around.

Now thank goodness it's just the same summer and winter except for the tourists and some "touristy" restaurants/bars closing down. We've got a winter population of around 50,000 which means the majority of shops and local restaurants are open.

Re: Winter

I like the winter here in kusadasi -its much easier to get around and prices drop dramatically--but there are still good places to go at night--and its lovely along the front on the sunny days tho there is quite a bit of torrential rain
