Just thought I'd tell you about a beautiful beach we went to at the weekend about 40 mins drive from Marmaris. You drive through Turunc and follow the main street out to Asos (former ancient city) past Profesorler Sitesi (a beautiful site consisting of stone houses cascading down the hillside) through narrow winding roads which lead to the pretty village of Kumlubük. What a wonderfully tranquil and scenic place! There are a handful of small hotel/Pansiyons and beachside restaurants. We parked at Dionysos Beach Club which has a private beach (no charge!) where we stopped which is in the middle of the bay. As you would expect you have to pay more for the exclusive location - 4.5 ytl for 1.5 litres of water at the hotel bar but sunloungers were free. The beach is typical dark sand/shingle but 10 times better than Marmaris beach (which is disgusting in parts). The sea was so clean, calm and salt free, unusual? - and there were a few private yachts moored up at the hotel. There is also a jetty for the daily boat trippers. If you want to go walking through the mountains this would be a lovely place to visit. All in all a lovely place to escape to and enjoy the beauty and peace of part of the Bozburun peninsular.
