Donations to migrant crisis?

Hello,

Coming out in July and want to pack my suitcase allowance with children's clothes and toys - is there a refuge/charity I can give them to in Marmaris? Or collect from me at the airport (Dalaman).

Thanks

Why not save the aggravation of carrying them halfway around the world when I'm quite sure there are charities local to yourself who would gladly relive you of your donations to help needy causes in your own town.

Re: Donations to migrant crisis?

I can't speak about charitable organisations in Marmaris, but I do know that most, if not all, of the large charities working with refugees in Turkey refuse donations of used clothes. Our local organisation that raises funds for street dogs accept second hand items, and you may find a similar group in Marmaris. For the last year I've been organising a project that sends new knitted hats and baby clothes to a Syrian refugee camp in Diyarbakir, but the organisation I work with will only accept new items.

Charities here do not have the resources or volunteers to sort second hand clothes, and I believe that the refusal of the camps to accept them is due to fears about communicable disease.

If any other members know of reputable charities - bearing in mind the ongoing investigations into large charities here - that will accept used clothes, I would be grateful for info/contact numbers, as I know there are people in Datca who would donate.

Are you serious, then again it's one rule for them and another for the way they act.
