Re: Selling up and Leaving

Today one year ago we left TR after 5 years. Kind of time to do some reflections.
How can it be that forigners accept all the crazy harassments, just to be able to stay in this TR? What does TR have that put other countries in a shadow? HRH/Erdoganistan my be good for a turk but not for me.
Speaking out clear: What is so great about TR - that many accept all the stupid rules affecting the basic living?
To mention a few:

Ikamet

Healt insurance

M-plated car

Working permit

120 day rule

I asked this question here a long time ago but go no really answer.
What did i miss, what is (was) soo wunderful in TR?

You clearly like the Forum as you are constantly on here whingeing about Turkey and boring people about your great new life in Portugal.

So my guess its the forum you miss.

I think that Flensdorf has asked a straight & honest question in #22 and that he deserves a straight & honest answer particularly as so many people are packing their bags for places anew right now.

If I had to say why I liked Turkey it would have to be because we enjoyed the weather & the Turkish people but then there is good weather & friendly people in many other countries as well.

So come on Martin – what’s so special about TR or can you only compare it to the UK?

Jaycey,

I have read flensdorfs other posts, they are nearly all similar in nature. In answer to your Question I can't think of anything special about Turkey and I can compare it with many countries from around the globe.

Martin

Dutchess is on a distinguished road
Re: Selling up and Leaving

People come and go.
The amount of people I have seen coming and going in the past 25 years I've lived in Marmaris, it is part of life here.
For me, no problems with ikamet, 120 day rules, work permits or health insurances after taking on the Turkish nationality.
Why Turkey over all those other countries in the world? Simply because this is home.

Good luck with your move.

Spain is not kind to animals either, there's one church that throws a live goat off the tower every year for some reason, and then there are all the hitmen for Fray Bentos. .

What is stupid about these rules? The only reason you and others get round them in Portugal or wherever is because the UK is a member of the big club that the UK is about to have a referendum on leaving.
