Hi Ian: any info you can share with the forum. I am generally interested in cost, pros & cons, what to look out for etc. of Gulets along te Agean/Med coasts.

Terry&Sue Senior Member	Re: gulets Our friends are going on a gulet cruise with 1st Choice from Marmaris to Fethiye on 18th September I think for 7 days and it looks nice but they can only take basic clothing and not much luggage but cabins all aircon and washing facilities. What are they like?

heyjude Senior Member	Re: gulets I must tell you we did this a few years ago and it was totally fab ...no shoes for the week! Overall the people on the boat were a good lot, the food superb spending every night under the stars, sleeping out there was wonderful. However there is always someone (or two) there was a couple clearly in the early stages of a romance who got so drunk one night that they were out at the front of the boat singing the theme tune to Titanic and doing the actions too and one night in a moment of drunken passion they fell down the crew hatch, needless to say this was good entertainment, and after the fall down the hatch we never heard their romantic throws once we were all tucked in for the night...gulets have thin walls. He told everyone he was going to sue......not sure if he did or not but it gave us all a good laugh. You'll love it I'm sure. We went with Virgin (lol) on an all inclusive deal, good value all in all. If this does'nt help at least I hope it makes you laugh.

kaplumba happy member	Re: gulets I'd love to do a week on one but husband wont come as he says he would be bored. I had a few day trips on them this Summer from Datca and it was fab. Zakkums partner has the most fabulous one and one day I'm going to bribe my husband to go on it, I have loads of friends who are all keen . I wonder what I'd have to do?

Seriously though some people are put off by the rather intimate closeness with people you may want to avoid or not get on with! but we have heard that 7 consenting adult couples have sometimes hired them and would naturally have got on like a house on fire !!!
I think this is the concern some people have and Sue and myself have often thought how terrible if we were the only sober reticent couple teamed up on a small boat with 6 drunken swinging couples.!!

What they didn't tell us was that the aircon only works when the engine is running so doesn't work when you are moored up for the night. We ended up sleeping on the sunbeds outside every night as the cabin was just too hot. It was ok until the flies woke up! Some of the crew also slept out there so no privacy. There were some long seats in the dining area, I went to sleep on there on the first night but woke up with a crew members sweaty feet in my face so left that area to them. The trip was supposed to include Olu Deniz but our captain said he wasn't allowed to go into there, don't know whether that was true or not. We did have some good fun with the other people on board, most of them were ok & determined to have a good holiday. It is a risk though as there is nowhere you can get away from them if you don't get on & you could find yourself with uncongenial companions.
