Tax Return

Could anyone explain to me how/where I return my tax return. We have begun renting our villa in Marmaris and I have managed to download the Turkish tax return form Yil_Gel_Ver_Bey_1001B but have no idea where to send it or how to pay the small amount that I owe ?

Re: Tax Return

I paid mine in person at the tax office, what method of calculation are you using ?

Re: Tax Return

I think the exemption is 3600 now Paul, did you use the online calculator and is the tapu in 2 names ?

Re: Tax Return

This is the calculator to use for rentals, this is the simple one, if there are 2 names on the Tapu you divide the gross by 2 and do 2 separate calculations, take a print each with your tax number to the tax office and they will send you around a few desks and take your money and issue a receipt, this had to be done in the office last year, there was no online facility to pay.

https://intvd.gib.gov.tr/internetvd/...e=IVD_MENU_HSP

take the GMSI option, google translate does a reasonable job automatically translating the document.

The expenses field is 25% of the balance of gross - allowance

Re: Tax Return

Thanks Martin the tax calculator has been useful, it shows it is at 3800 tax exemption.

I have added up all the expenses(REAL) rather than just take 25% of the gross, which I understand you are allowed to do. Do you know If I have to go in person or can I ask the person running my villa to take the cash ?

Re: Tax Return

Paul, this is the lump sum calculator, if you use the real expenses you need to employ an accountant and show books, bank statements receipts etc.
The 25% lump sum does away with that, they basically take your word for it.
I went in person but friends have sent others, I would advise a good level of Turkish as they have little reason to speak any English in the office

Re: Tax Return

Thanks for all your help Martin, I have one more question. Our expenses are much greater than 25% when we include our payments to our Villa managers.

Would it be correct to remove the payments to our villa managers from our total income as we are basically collecting money which goes directly to them ? It seems daft that I pay 15% when I just simply pass on the money to the villa manager who also then has to pay 15%

thanks in advance.

Only just saw this, you just follow the template on the website, you don't need to produce any books or invoices etc, it's a lump sum declaration, we had the evidence just in case but it wasn't required rather like your UK tax return, that's another point, you must declare on your UK tax return, you must fill one in if you have any foreign earnings regardless of whether you have filled one in before
