tur telecom Internet packages

Good morning all

Our Internet contract is up for renewal and we have been looking at all the different packages turk telecom have on offer. We haven't got a clue which package will be adequate for what we want which is mainly to be able to watch TV for at least 6 hrs day/night (probably more during the winter months). Turk telecom are advertising fibre net/hipernet (our neighbour advised us fibre net cable have been laid just outside our main gate) the higher end package being XXL 50mhps 200gb 89.90t (online offer). Could a kind soul please look at the link below and advise which package we should go for? Would we need to replace our router which is 6yrs old?

Many thanks for listening.

Re: tur telecom Internet packages

We have just upgraded our. We live in a village and, as such, do not have fibre optic cable for miles around and the TTnet exchange is old and slow. Our new package is called Ultranet limitsiz and allows us to download 75GB per month (after this it still works but the speed will drop for the rest of the month). Speed (max that our exchange can cope with) is 16Mbit. Not much but better than the old one. For this we pay 59TL per month. We find that 75GB allows us to download whatever we wish from BBB I player for the month. I hope that this helps a bit. Happy hunting.

Re: tur telecom Internet packages

I have the 200gb Hipernet. Speeds up to 34Mbps are normal, sometimes a bit higher.

Watching TV really eats into your data allowance - watching on Low definition will be around 2Gb an hour; watching the same thing on High def will be closer to 10Gb.

What you must remember is that you are buying 50mbps, so when you hit your limit is is set back to around 12mbps until your "new" month starts. Anything above 4mbps will give you very acceptable TV.

Hipernet is well worth having, and in most circumstances it gives instant response, even with pages (eg newspapers) with lots of video.

Not up with internet but do you need a landline telephone point for the router.
Currently where I am working the usb dongle/router plug into the mains to pick up a signal.

Yes, you need a phone line to connect to the router. I don't think streaming TV from a dongle is a viable option.

Re: tur telecom Internet packages

I managed to wrangle after many phone calls a totally unlimited package. That means my speed never drops ever. I pay 132tl per month and get around 7mbps.

I stream TV from the UK through kodi on a package I paid around 60 for the year. It includes lots of HD channels and it works just fine.

All sky channels, discovery, National Geographic, sky movies, sky sports, BT sports, NBC sports for 3am Saturday football plus a whole host of other channels. Around 1800. Don't use most of them to be honest.

I do not use it for gaming but when I had the 200gb package, it only lasted two weeks. The package I have now is just what I needed.

I think it's classed as a business package but not 100% sure. You can't sort it out in store. I did it over the phone but I spoke to the technical department. At first they said totally unlimited was impossible without the speed drop thing they do but I finally spoke to someone who said "no problem" not looked back

Re: tur telecom Internet packages

Abzlad: not sure how that is better than what you had with Hipernet. With Hipernet you would have had up to 50mbps for two weeks (on your figures), but it would then drop back to 12 for the remainder of the month. You are paying around double for 7mbps constant.

Re: tur telecom Internet packages

No hipernet available for me.

That was the only package available as the speed would have dropped to 2mbps which it used to making tv almost unwatchable.
