Smile Marmaris Aug 18

Hi expats,
Love Turkey, visiting Marmaris early Aug 18 for a couple of weeks & would like some value recommendations for:
Opticians quality & value
Dentist - quality & value
Resturant- decent meal to celebrate anniversary & wife's birthday
Boat trip with lunch, not to commercial, a local setup, 4 people going on a day out with lunch, not a big boat required.
If you can recommend any of the above I would be grateful, as we are all 50 pluses and love to have some of your local knowledge, (you know what I mean)

Thank you in advance
Robin

Re: Marmaris Aug 18

I may visit a recommended dentist to correct from metal NHS filings to white & understand that Turkish opticians are generally lower cost than UK, so a recommendation would be a good start, rather than visiting completely green!

Re: Marmaris Aug 18

From experience, Turkish dentists are very good. They have a price list issued by the government with standard prices for all types of treatment. I can't recommend anyone in Marmaris, sorry, as I use a more local one.

As for opticians, be aware that they are often just dispensing opticians selling frames and will not be qualified to do tests and/or prescriptions, so take your NHS UK optician's eye test results with you for lense/sight correction. Don't expect equivalent qualifications with UK opticians.

There are a lot of dentists Google marmaris dentist what clinic loads of reviews on there as for glasses you have to go the hospital for the eye test lots messing unless you have the prescription from the UK as for restaurants on the harbour o yes /Mr cook / bono / carie/ all good down there you can always tell a good place as there busy I think if you only here for 2 weeks you need to book the dentist appointment online as there very busy in the summer months hope you enjoy your hols

For a great meal l would recommend Maris Beach Hotel, which is situated near the seafront aqua park. We generally stay there twice a year and l can't say there is anywhere better. Spike, Adam and the staff really look after you. The food is excellent and would not hesitate to recommend the Fillet Steak, so soft you can't cut it with a butter knife. Have eaten there many times and never been disappointed,
