Re: Has the Tapu suspension made you reconsider your involvement with Turkey?
I can't see how anybody who is investing just now should be in a panic.
Is there really somebody out there that believes that if they invest one year, they can sell the following year for a quick and handsome profit? They have obviously not done their homework.
The Tapu is not a problem for those who either just want to live there, or are hoping to have some decent holidays for the long term and contemplate selling at say 5 - 10 years. And remember, if it is a suspension, that will end eventually, it's not like you are waiting for a dodgy deal to finalise, are you ?
I collected our Tapu in May for a property completed in January and having checked it to see if by any chance my wife's details had been omitted (no luck there) it has been put away again.
The next place isn't due to be finished until September 2009, I do not have a crystal ball to make predictions, but neither am I worried about the Tapu being issued in a short time. Besides my kids have said they're having it !!

Germaine there are several reasons to be concerned. What if your property does not follow the new guidlines and restrictions. I know alittle about your situation and I'm aware that your comfortable and confident with your builder, that's a good thing. Talk to an experienced Turkish Emlack the knows English well, he/she can fill you in on some of the hurdles yet to possibly over come. A lawyer could even be better as they would be more unbiased. I hope you have no problems but many do.

Bob,
The restrictions have only recently been put in place so how can you say many do have problems because of ?
As far as guidelines and restrictions are concerned the only restriction i've heard of that will come out of this will be that foreigners cannot buy more than 10% of the region. I think i'll be safe.
Does anyone know of any other possible restrictions or laws that may arise from the ongoing discussions surrounding the TAPU suspensions ?

Re: Has the Tapu suspension made you reconsider your involvement with Turkey?
Guinevere,
Our Tapu had been issued weeks before, at the beginning of April, but obviously the solicitors had stored it waiting for me to next return to Turkey.
Hope that clarifies.

Re: Has the Tapu suspension made you reconsider your involvement with Turkey?
I don't have my Tapu after three years waiting but I know my problems with the estate agent not the Tapu office, I went about everything the wrong way.
No lawyer etc, taking the agent on face value.
Oh! How ive matured over the past three years, I was looking at taking advise from a previous subject so I have printed out every email, photocopied contracts and i'm in the process of writing a letter explaining my problems. When I return in three weeks for a month i'll be visiting the Tapu office to see if they can offer any assistance at all.
In the meantime i'm being polite & friendly to my agent because unless someone can tell me otherwise I will need him to help me eventually.
I was looking towards a lawyer but i know of a friend who used a lawyer and got his property from the same agent etc but he's in a worse position than what i am...He told the agent his true feelings.

what about the seven who are blindly ploughing on - still buying despite knowing they cant?
