Grand Prix 2011/2012

It's Good News' Week!
Apparently the Bahrain meeting that was cancelled early this season has been rescheduled for October 30th. That's brilliant.

I'm now left wondering what's happened to the Indian Grand Prix which was sheduled for the same weekend?? Has the track not come up to scratch??

Also the U.S. Grand Prix has been re-instated for 2012, giving us (They say) a record 21 races for the 2012 season! Does this mean we are going to see another meeting at Istanbul Park?? I certainly hope so.

Re: Grand Prix 2011/2012

Disgraceful on the part of F1 in general. Bahrain can crucify it's people and we pretend everything is ok. Hope Vodaphone , Santander etc. put the boot in and refuse their sponsorship for that race. All of the teams voiced opposition to racing there.

Bernie Shecclestone has no shame.

Re: Grand Prix 2011/2012

Well I beg to differ as ALL teams certainly were NOT opposed to racing there.

I'm really pleased that for once, common sense rules and we are not being bullied into a corner by politics!!

There are horrendous problems in many countries where sporting events take place, lighten up a bit. Live and let live! Many of us moved out of Britain years ago, we could list dreadful things that go on back there but we don't begrudge Silverstone the Grand Prix, Wimbledon the tennis, Wembley the football, etc.etc. etc.

Watching paint dry comes to mind.Ecclestone is a classic case of megalomania with his arrogant strutting around the pit lanes in his girls like big boys heels.

I don't need to tag my source, even though it's good enough for you, I'd never quote the Guardian and I'm totally unaware of being your friend.
You've obviously confused me with someone else.

Re: Grand Prix 2011/2012

Hey Guys, it's ok to agree to disagree At least Turkey is still on for 2012.

Personally, despite loving Motorsport and F1 so much I don't agree with Bahrain race taking place this year given the number of deaths (at least 30 dead), injuries to so many Bahrainis without basic human rights, so doubt the media quotes of " unity" are for real when even employees at circuit have been asked to leave to avoid clashes.. Its an opressive regime..it somehow doesn't feel right to race there given the current state of human affairs.

I think if F1 Sport wanted they could have turned this event around and said they would not agree to race there, instead they (FIA, Bernie et al) have decided to slot Bahrain back in October (into what was India's 1st opening race) meaning India gets pushed till December.

This news clip video (5 June upload) discusses the Bahrain race re-instatement
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VKiPAvnfscBut anyway folks perhaps this is another topic for debate anyone could discuss in News & Views.

Yes Freedom49 I am looking forward to 2012, the only slight positive for me is if India's race is pushed to December there may be a chance I could go (as going in October is out of the question!) but I know the teams aren't happy to work so late into the year till December. We'll see...
