ah the Tifosi would go crazy if Alonso won in his Ferrari this weekend!

Currently McLarens are strongest and have the straight line speed to go fastest at Monza, their time are in the 1:24's.

Ferrari are currently 2-2.7 seconds behind the McLarens!

Practice 1 Results -Amazingly Hamilton is a whole second faster than team mate Button, he set was 1st with a time of 1:23.865

1. Hamilton -1:23.865
2. Button -1:24.786
3. Vettel - 1:25.231
4. Webber -1:25.459
5. Sutil (Force India) -1:26.550
6. Petrov 1:26.625
7. Alonso (2.752 slower than p1) -1:26.647
8. Massa -1:26.676

Even though Ferrari are off the pace this morning -they are currently changing the engine in Alonso's car for next Practice this afternoon..so by Qualifying tomorrow I expect the times to be much faster for Ferrari.

A lot can happen within 24 hours in F1.
Great circuit Monza, been many years ago (slipped thru' the hole in the fence Tifosi style, lol), not for F1 race..the atmosphere is electric in this small sleepy town.

I would never under-estimate Alonso in a Ferrari @ Monza!

If you are quick at Spa you are quick at Monza get your money on McLaren only a poor call in qualifiying (Button) and a bad decision on the track (Hamilton) stopped them winning at Spa

A quote from Schumacher (from yesterday)

Mercedes GP
Michael Schumacher, P1 - 1:26.699:, 11th; P2 - 1:24.347, 3rd!

"It's always a special feeling to be here in Monza. It began yesterday when I did my lap of the circuit, saw the tifosi and enjoyed the particular atmosphere of this track. Then going out in the car today, it's nice to feel what comes across from the fans - it reminds me of being at my home races. In terms of the character of the circuit, we are usually good on braking and traction, and there are not so many of the medium and high-speed corners in which we have not been so strong this year. It certainly looks good in terms of my position today, and I'm pleased with that; but we will only find out tomorrow what it is really worth."

Wonder if he can keep that position for Qualifying later today....

Re: Monza - Italian Grand Prix 9-11 Sept, 2011

Looking forward to this race tomorrow, the Monza always a good one to watch, would be good to see Alonso do it, but I feel Vettel will take great advantage of giving it some on the longer laned circuit here.

Re: Monza - Italian Grand Prix 9-11 Sept, 2011

OMG, Specatacular final lap from Vettel, despite his error on 2nd lap, which he aborted and came to do his final lap in traffic at the back..still managed a
1:222.275 for Pole position!

"Yeah, now that's what I'm talking about!"

Qualifying Result

1 1 Sebastian Vettel RBR-Renault 1:24.002 1:22.914 1:22.275 15
2 3 Lewis Hamilton McLaren-Mercedes 1:23.976 1:23.172 1:22.725 16
3 4 Jenson Button McLaren-Mercedes 1:24.013 1:23.031 1:22.777 17
4 5 Fernando Alonso Ferrari 1:24.134 1:23.342 1:22.841 18
5 2 Mark Webber RBR-Renault 1:24.148 1:23.387 1:22.972 14
6 6 Felipe Massa Ferrari 1:24.523 1:23.681 1:23.188 17
7 10 Vitaly Petrov Renault 1:24.486 1:23.741 1:23.530 19
8 7 Michael Schumacher Mercedes 1:25.108 1:23.671 1:23.777 13
9 8 Nico Rosberg Mercedes 1:24.550 1:23.335 1:24.477 17
10 9 Bruno Senna Renault 1:24.914 1:24.157

That's Vettel's 7th pole this season!

Whether Red Bull can maintain the lead during the race long straights will be interesting. I'll be pleased if Vettel can; Monza would be a special victory for him if possible...We'll see, expect Mclaren to be strong.
