F1 2013 Championship

With NEW Season just 5 days away till the first race.

Who do you predict will win the Drivers' Championship this year?

Will Alonso make it this time?
Will Vettel make it 4 in a row?
What about smooth cool-leave-me -alone Rakkinonen??
Webber? He's due some wins now?

Lot of changes within the teams now

with Hamilton left his chilldhood team McLaren and now replaced Schumacher and joined Rosberg at Mercedes.

Perez has taken Hamilton's spot at McLaren -that should be interesting!

Marussia has a new line with Max Chilton joining them

Re: F1 2013 Championship

I'm going for Alonso. Last year in an underperforming Ferrari he was still able to get within a hair's breadth of winning the championship. This year's Ferrari is looking better - they spent a lot of time last year concentrating on 2013 developments.
On the other hand Red Bull got a lot of advantage last year from technical innovations which are disallowed this year, so perhaps Vettel will struggle. But those Red Bull designers will probably pull some other rabbit out of the bag!
Can Hamilton really make enough difference to the Mercedes Benz performance to bring it to pole? Well, team mate Nico Rosberg is no slouch and he was only able to manage 9th. Has the car suddenly found enough extra? I doubt it.
Stick my neck out prediction: Perez will find himself on the podium more than once.

Tomorrow morning at 03:30 (TR) I'll be watching FP1 on VipBox with my live timing app on my laptop by my side! Anyone else? lol

I'm just head over heels in love with Fernando and therefore have absolute blind faith that he will pull it out of the bag this year

Now,now no cheating Sunny

Seriously, though when would be a good time to close this Poll? Everyone knows as the season progresses and teams catch up or reliability issues plague some that were performing better earlier, the Championship stakes change.

Thanks Lezli. Looks like early morning viewing for most of us.

Agree, with you Alonso is class experienced driver who can come through in the most difficult situations. He's still quick, not fastest as seen on P1 and P2 earlier this morning. Vettel still topped both Practices today (P1 + P2).

Despite FIA changes this year such as no front wing flexing to slow down the RB's..think Adrian Newey combined with Vettel determination and concentration will still be hard to beat judging just from initial data from Practice times.

However, quickness is one thing, durability combined with stable constant results is another..and if Alonso gets this right this season he could be there!

Hamilton is another who is amazingly quick and determined, will be interesting to see his progress at Mercedes.

Practice 1 times: today was in the 1:27's
1 1 Sebastian Vettel Red Bull Racing-Renault 1:27.211 16
2 4 Felipe Massa Ferrari 1:27.289 0.078 17
3 3 Fernando Alonso Ferrari 1:27.547 0.336 16
4 10 Lewis Hamilton Mercedes 1:27.552 0.341 18
5 2 Mark Webber Red Bull Racing-Renault 1:27.668 0.457 18
6 7 Kimi Räikkönen Lotus-Renault 1:27.877 0.666 17
7 9 Nico Rosberg Mercedes 1:28.013 0.802 17

and Practice 2? They all get even faster! check 1:25 time!
Practice 2:

1 1 Sebastian Vettel Red Bull Racing-Renault 1:25.908 33
2 2 Mark Webber Red Bull Racing-Renault 1:26.172 0.264 31
3 9 Nico Rosberg Mercedes 1:26.322 0.414 26
4 7 Kimi Räikkönen Lotus-Renault 1:26.361 0.453 38
5 8 Romain Grosjean Lotus-Renault 1:26.680 0.772 32
6 3 Fernando Alonso Ferrari 1:26.748 0.840 35
7 10 Lewis Hamilton Mercedes 1:26.772 0.864 28
8 4 Felipe Massa Ferrari 1:26.855 0.947 32
9 15 Adrian Sutil Force India-Mercedes 1:27.435 1.527 35

Practice 3 is 2.45 a.m GMT Saturday 16 March 2013 live on Sky followed by Qualifying at 6.00am GMT (8.00A.M Turkish time I assume).

Enjoy!
